Not that good. Some epic battle scenes, but that's basically it.
it boggles me that Peter jackson could make the lord of the rings and then.... this.. such a shameless cash grab. Youd think that after a big success a director would care even less about the money and more about the movie. apparently not.

I liked it nonetheless. Yes, it does lower the value of lotr saga in general, but it was still a nice 2nd trilogy to watch (if you didnt read the books). Because i didnt read those books i hope they do some more actually because i like the storyline of that fictional world. Yes, i am a horrible person.
The Hobbit was one of my favourite books growing up. I saw the first movie of the trilogy and gave up on it right away. It was terribly done, although the production itself was pretty good. That is not a book that should have been made into a trilogy. 2 movies would be enough to get it done with plenty to spare. Unfortunately, we're probably going to see it "Rebooted" soon enough, because this one was done pretty poorly.
I had the exact opposite experience with kingsman. I felt it was all over the place. For the longest time I didnt know if it was trying to be a serious movie or a parody of that kind of movie. Most of the jokes fell flat to me because of this. The horrible pacing contributed to this as well. There were so many empty scenes where nothing really happened at all. Some of the action scenes were well done but I couldn't really get into them simply because everything felt so out of place to me. Imo the whole movie lacked any sense of direction. Sure it was pretty enjoyable here and there, and I liked some of the bond movie throwbacks. As a whole however I think it was a missed opportunity.

also went to see that one after an overwhelming amount of positive reviews on imdb and reddit and was pleasantly surprised how fucking amazing the movie was. When I first saw the trailer it was meh but it might be this year's edge of tomorrow with generic trailer and weka marketing for a great movie.
The church scene will probably be one of the most memorable scenes of 2015 after whatever epicness happens in age of ultron and starwars.

surely I'm not the only one that thinks all these remakes look like shit or at least passable (star wars) aside from Mad Max? Mad Max looks fucking DOPE. George Miller could make that a two hour explosion fest with no plot and it would still be great.
Jurassic Park looks stupid (seriously, riding a motorcycle with a pack of raptors? Are they going with the Snakes on Plane treatment?) but has Chris Pratt so there's a glimmer of hope.
Terminator is going to be a total fucking disaster. I don't understand how that franchise can't attract better goddamn writers and directors.
Star Wars, I just expect Disney to dumb it down, but at the same time, George Lucas has completely buttfucked anything he's done from the 90s onward aside from Red Tails, so the bar is pretty low at this point

I get the sentiment about SW, but Lucas isn't as at the helm, he is just on as a consultant, at least according to what I could find. JJ could lens flare it up a bit, make it a bit more or make it a bit more action movie like than the originals were, but I don't think we'll be made to sit and wonder why jedi's are moderating trade agreements.
The other thing that gives me a bit of hope is that they are opting to release it around Oscar Season, which makes me think they may be taking the more common route these days and darkening it up, less Jar Jar. I don't know, I think we are in a similar boat, but in JJ I trust. I think he treated the Star Trek series with a good amount of dignity and hope for the same.
Oh yeah I like JJ Abrams, but I do think some of the criticisms about him are certainly on point. But yeah the main reason I have some hope for Star Wars is that he's directing it rather than Lucas. George Lucas' world is great, but man he seems incapable of writing a script without bloated with unimportant shit, stupid characters, and shitty dialogue

i hope Mad Max is good.
after watching the Mad Max movie with Lord Humungus i learned that Chris Jericho's "ayatollah of rock and rolla" was copied from Lord Humgus. i thought Jericho came up with that catch phrase himself. now i'm so dissillusioned.
Or there have been 7 different versions of Four Feathers and 5 different versions of the Mutiny on the Bounty. The only difference is which films are being remade- super hero films rather than historical fiction/ adventure novels.
