I was sort of forced to watch it and it's easy to say its the shittiest film I've ever seen. Worst plot ever, pointless and horribly acted cliches/romance/rivalries, there were so many scenes where I felt like the characters had no idea whatsoever of what they were doing and they were just there for the movie to come in one piece.
This is the only 0/10 I might ever rate.
Wow. Seems pretty harsh. Pacific Rim wasn't stellar but it was a pretty good movie overall. I wonder how you would rate some really bad movies, you'd get into the negative values?
It felt like they just tried to made a movie in a supposedly advanced world, with some badass robots (with a goddam sword ffs) with a supposedly very complex control mechanism, add some romance there, stir a bit of jealousy/manfight rivalry here and there... you get the idea, I think the script writers are to blame cuz it looked like a high school project. If I were one of the actors I would feel stupid myself "like you really want me to say that? god thats so from grand book of cliches".
It is only the CGI that makes it look cool, it was an empty movie. Thats all just my opinion of course.
Have you watched any blockbuster release? 90% are 'empty' movies which have nothing besides the 'cool' cgi which im honestly getting pretty tired of. Guardians of the galaxy, jupiter ascending, edge of tomorrow etc. etc.
Yeah that's the norm it seems, I guess its asking too much to have another Avatar.
Some call Avatar, Dances with Wolves using "cool" cgi hah.
The Imitation Game was ok, however, if I watch a full length movie about Turing, I would at least like to be informed afterwards what was his thought process and how a Turing Machine roughly works. Is that too much to ask for? They don't even have to show any math for that.

I thought Avatar was supposed to explicitly be Pocahontas with cool CGI and flying dragons. Even the sub-chief or whatever his name is has the same necklace type thing.
Avatar is way smarter than your average blockbuster. Not that I think it's a great movie, but god, there is far worse out there to caricature badly a movie that had obviously lots of smart work put in.
Only saw Grand Budapest Hotel. But maybe Boyhood will win, because I can understand the extraordinary dedication of filming it over a decade. And the voters like that.
I'm not usually a Wes Anderson fan, i find his earlier movies horribly boring and disconnected. Moonrise Kingdom i found to be good, it was much more approachable for people like me due to the faster moving story and more emotional investment in the characters. Happily GBH is even better in my opinion. Gustave is an incredible character. The old movie theme of 'the mask slipping' is big here, but its handled very carefully. + Show Spoiler +
Watching Gustave finally get let his anger get the better of him and then immediately regret it and slip 'back into character' is actually a much more realistic and relatable way to deal with this than most movies, even though its grounded in that ridiculous but brilliant Wes Anderson dialogue
Loved the Theory of Everything. The movie is clearly trying to strike the emotional cord of the audience, but I felt it was done with brilliance and it hit me in the face hard. I literally cried the fucking whole movie, a ton more than my girlfriend who usually cries for nothing. I felt so many scenes to be excellently written and directed and not just the soapy ones. Loved the messages, loved the scenes, loved the actors, the music... There's very little I would reproach it and it touched me on many subjects (optimism, love, devotion, fatherhood). If anything it could have been a bit more about the science and less of the disease.
What would you say are your favourite movie soundtracks? I recently listened to one again, and it still gives me goosebumps years after I first heard it. Are there any that you find really special to you?
