Escape Plan --> Well... You get what you can expect from a Sly movie, nothing special.
Enders Game --> I liked it, i didn't read the book but there seems to be "stuff" missing to make the whole thing really coherent and understandable, in general i enjoyed it and it delivered it's message (i guess, as i said, i didn't read the book).
Hunger Games 1 --> Boring and dumb. Really friggin dumb. Basically nothing makes sense in this movie, this might be better in the books but i'm not gonna read some novel targeted at teenagers...
Percy Jackson: Sea of monsters --> i kinda liked the first one... It felt somewhat refreshing, the second one is just bad.
Elysium --> Didn't like it, i don't know why exactly but it never seemed belivable at all (and the twist is pretty obvious).
Pacific Rim --> Awesomesauce... If you want robots vs monsters --> Thats what you get and it's awesome .
Thor: Dark World --> About as average as a superhero movie can be... Not bad, but in no way outstanding (well, the captain america scene was really fun).

7/10, was pretty funny for the most part and wasn't too overly dramatic or anything during the "fall" for a comedy like most are now. Just a lighthearted film to watch on a boring night or something. The google hate for the film is pretty unwarranted considering I can't even remember anything google related they were talking about in the film, the jokes are pretty stand-alone.
Watched this last night, I agree with your description. I was pleasantly surprised as I went in expecting something rather mediocre. Found myself either laughing or with a big grin quite a lot throughout the movie.
I found it kind of cheesy and stopped halfway through. Mostly because someone brought up the comment that it really didn't relate as much to technology as I thought.
It wasn't supposed to. It's a frigging comedy.
It wasn't that funny either. Someone else's opinion of the movie stopped me from finishing it.

Much cliche.
Vince Vaughn isn't funny. Owen Wilson isn't funny. I don't how anyone can be surprised that a movie with both of them in ends up being unfunny.
Friends with Benefits 5.5/10 Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis just came across as annoying yuppies with too much to prove. Oh my god we are young professional adults putting everything into our careers we have no time for anything we are so cool and walk so fast and have sex with each other.
Red 2 8.5/10 Didn't see Red the first movie so didn't know what to expect. I really liked this one and felt that this is what the expendables should have been. Didn't take itself seriously with enough action and heartfelt moments to make it interesting. The performances were very solid, very enjoyable.
Elysium 7.0/10 Just no. Music was trying too hard to create tension that wasn't there. The suit didn't have him do much that he could have done otherwise, at least add some line about it being able to reduce recoil of weapons or make him open doors or jump high etc. He put on the suit, killed a single droid and then it just became an annoying prosthetic. The whole story doesn't make sense either. One company in charge of all security AND health care? The medic bays run on whaaaaat exactly? How did Spider's ship make it without setting off alarms? How does the code in his head work? Change "illegal" to "legal"? bestbetrollinmotherfucker. I expected more, but hey the visuals were very nice.
Just watched Captain Phillips. Was a decent thriller but lacked a bit in the script department, especially the ridiculous stuff they were saying to Somali pirates/fishermen, expecting them to understand words like 'jeopardy'. It also seemed like a recruitment vehicle for the navy and I wouldn't be surprised if it received backing from them. Hanks' acting was admittedly stellar but was all but drowned out amid the pro-American bluster. 7/10
Just saw her last night and had a Q and A with the director Spike Jonze afterwards. The movie was really good and I hope it wins best picture. Joaquin Phoenix had the best acting I've seen this year. The world was really well thought out and never ceased to amaze me. I would go see it when you have the chance.
Architecture 101: Korean film (watched subtitled). While it's a romance themed film, it's not too "girly". The way it's worked is done well and it feels like a completed whole by the end. Not the normal Korean romance story portrayal, although it does have some typical elements in it, and definitely worth watching if you want something that isn't overly complex, but still has a good story and will leave you feeling satisfied. 7/10 on a scale of 1-10 where only one or two films ever get a 10 and 5 is average.
The true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.
Usually I like based on true stories movies, since they are usually moving and intriguing to watch. However i feel this one fell short. Tom Hanks performance was ok I guess, The performance of the Somali pirates were the most convincing thing about the movie. The first half is fine, but then + Show Spoiler +
we are forced to spend at least the remaining hour of the movie in a life boat, where they kidnapped Tom hanks. They could have cut out alot of the ending scenes out, because it wasnt exiting in any way IMO, abit boring.
4/10
Upside Down
Adam and Eden fell in love as teens despite the fact that they live on twinned worlds with gravities that pull in opposite directions. Ten years after a forced separation, Adam sets out on a dangerous quest to reconnect with his love.
This movie got alot of heat because of some of its potholes and the fact that its about two worlds (planets) so close together that you can climb over to the other world and live there. People want to find or at least get it explained of how and why, but thats where I think people miss the point. Its a romantic movie about the taboo of people from different social layers, having a romance.
Its pretty much a sci-fi planet version of Titanic. I found it cute and interesting, because hey, they at least tried to make the setting unique in some way.
5/10
The Twilight Samurai (Tasogare Seibei)
A 19th-century samurai tries to protect a battered wife.
Im a huge fan of samurai movies. Ever since I saw The seven samurai and Shôgun Iemitsu no ranshin, I've been hooked. So, I usually try and find movies like that to watch once in awhile, and I regret not watching this one sooner. Its been in my IMDB watchlist for quite some time now.
The simple setup, and the usual quiet slow tempo of Japanese cinema is still something I love watching. Our main protagonist Seibei must not only protect his own honor, but the honor of a old childhood friend. But at the same time wishes to put his samurai title on the shelf, so he can better provide for his senile mother, and two kids. This is a great movie, and if you love this genre you should pick it up and watch it.
8/10
The Last Days on Mars
A group of astronaut explorers succumb one by one to a mysterious and terrifying force while collecting specimens on Mars.
And then we got this little gem...It stars Liev Schreiber, the dude that played Sabretooth in some of the x-men movies. The movie itself is terrible. Its just another zombie sci-fi monster movie. They go out on walks on mars in hope of finding something, and bam, they find something. It quickly turns into a action horror movie, without the horror, and the action.
But that being said, If you want something to watch while eating dinner and dont want to watch something that makes you think too much, then this will cut it.
Wow... just watched a korean movie called Welcome to Dongmakgol
I had to watch this movie for a school essay, but what a pleasant surprise! The movie just had the most amazing imagery. The popcorn scene and rain scenes were really well done and Kang Hye Jung(girl from oldboy) just killed it in her role. The movie kind of had a catcher in the rye theme because of the innocence of the villagers and the character played by kang were affected and harmed by the korean war. The soldiers played their parts and did a great job in showing off their humane aspects even during war.
rain scene
popcorn
kang hye jung's character is so... innocent and cute and it's so sad in the end. higly recommended
Thank you for your donmakgol review, my friend recommended it to me after talking about Oldboy and I've been putting it off for a while. I'll watch it tonight!

I was actually putting watching this movie off as well but one of my professors made us watch this movie and write a paper about it and im so glad that he made us watch this(well we had a choice of like 8 movies, but obviously i was going to choose the korean one haha).
that popcorn scene had to be one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen and i love that character played by kang hye jung SOOOO much.
Saw this at a bad movie nite. Look at that poster. It's freaking awesome. Of course it was just a (somewhat) funnily awful 80's slasher movie, only the slashers are robots that look like:
employed as mall security in the sci-fi future of...1996, and some teenagers that were having a sex party in a furniture store at the mall after hours get trapped. There's not really any chopping or slashing to speak of (the robots didn't even seem to have any appendages capable of such acts), so it didn't really live up to the title in that way. Though there was a head explosion. And LAZERS.
Raging Bull 8/10 I liked the premise, but i dunno why didn't like DeNiro there. It was just the perfect DeNiro's "manierism" of acting. But i loved the change (time skip). But it's way below Taxi Driver in my book.
City of God 8(+)/10 Definitely good but not as good as i hoped to be (maybe i imagined something else). Reminded me of Goodfellas.
Hunger Games 1 3/10 Nothing to say, i watched first 15 minutes and then i past it on skip forward a little. Kinda shallow. Poor man's Battle Royale.

That wasn't the point I was referring to. You said, you found it cheesey (valid opinion) and stopped halfway through. Mostly because someone told you that it didn't really relate to technology. That's where I go whaaaaat? At the end of the day, comedies are supposed to make you laugh. You didn't and that's where it failed. I don't know why anyone would go see a movie with co-stars you don't like (that is ofc if your comments were only in relation to this movie, but something tells me otherwise). So you went into it hoping to get your tech geek on? o.O
Anyway, I hate typecasting but those two guys are good examples of almost always playing the same type of character. In other words, you know what you're going to get when you see them acting.

I wouldn't even compare it to Battle Royale because the execs wanted to make it PG for all the kiddies to see it and increase the box office sales. Marketing wise it's smart. Gary Ross wasn't too thrilled about it at first. He wanted it to be grittier. you have to play the hand that you've been dealt.
haven't seen such a mess of a movie in a long time. Featuring three of my favourite actors (Scarlett Johansson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Julianne Moore, it should have been something good. Instead, it's a movie about pornography and relationships and addiction and god and i don't know. It had no point. I hated the characters, and frankly, i didn't care how they would end up. When they did end up, i felt like throwing up a little. I have no idea why we needed 10 minutes of church scenes, 15 minutes of family scenes, 20 minutes of porn and masturbation AND WHY THE FUCK WAS GODDESS SCARLETT SUCH A SLUT? I worshipped her, seeing this movie, i wanna punch her in the face.
Did anyone get, how and why Joseph and Julianne's characters ever bonded? They had to spend so much time on masturbation, they had no time to tell this story at all.
