Before sunset (2004)

Nice little movie built up on great dialog/dialogue
8/10, i enjoyed it, especially because i could draw parallels to my life.

Expected the movie to be bad.

Turns out I was dead wrong, it was awesome, like really good.

Saddened by the fact that it didn't do so well at the boxoffice.

Worst. Movie. Ever.

Pretty sure eva mendes won't be in any worse movie than that.

I just failed to understand the whole story. Clearly. I missed everything. From the beginning to the end, there was absolutely no indications whatsoever about where this movie would go.

I strongly advise you to not waste your time watching it.

My note ? Do you really want me to rate it ?!? No way in hell i'll do it. Just pure waste of time.

In the first opus, I saw Eiffel Tower falling (why american movies always destroy Big Ben or Eiffel tower?? I mean...like if there were just 2 buildings in the world...) and I had my biggest laugh ever while watching the movie : I saw ice flowing...I mean...I'm pretty bad with science but...come on...I'm pretty sure everybody had ice rocks in a glass one day...

Except if I'm drunk and with friends, I won't ever try to see this movie. Your feedback is just what I was expecting indeed !

I know, right? Well, Judge Dredd was terrible with Sly... I was reluctant to watch this one just because of that... In retrospect that was a poor decision. However, this one was REALLY good. I urge everyone who's in to these types of flicks to check it out.

Well, Stallone's Dredd + the fact that they so heavily marketed the 3d aspect, people probably expected a horrible 3d action movie gimmick.

Watched Taxi Driver and Casino recently, dat Scorsese - DeNiro.

Taxi Driver was good, strange as hell though, I don't really know what to make of the film other then I enjoyed watching it.

I preferred Casino though, one aspect of it I haven't seen commented on it is how funny (at least to me) the film is, its a great drama, but it seems to have a great sense of humor, especially with some of the jokes in the background.

Pandorum was great, mix of horror and sci-fi.

Anyone got some good post-apocalyptic movie? I always loved Zombie genre because of that theme. I've probably seen most of the big title "zombie" movies that came out in the past years, the most recent being the one with Brad Pitt (World War Z). Unfortunately, most have a focus on "killing zombie"/action.

So, corumjhaelen is one of those people who mainly likes all those old time movies with all the bad acting? Or maybe that is actually how people were back then, but it still awkward to watch these days. I've watched quite a few oldschool films, Anything pre 80s is rare to be good to me.

I;ve watched loads of films at the cinema lately due to having ligament damage in my foot.
This Is the End; I personally thought it was brilliant, really funny movie and I did enjoy that it didn't take itself seriously.
Despicable Me 2; another very good film, Russel Brand in it did an incredible job, didn't even realise he was the voice actor until the credits rolled (and yes I have even seen the first one). The film was again pretty damn funny, the minions are still painfully adorable and they had me in stitches at the end.
Monsters University; I thought after watching This Is the End I wouldn't be able to find a film that made me laugh more, I was wrong, this film is brilliant and I would definitely recommend it.
Going to see Pacific Rim at some point so I will post what I think on that soon

Erm, so what oldschool movies did you watch exactly? And what movies did you like? There are a lot of movies pre-80s that are good, here is just a quick list of random movies that come to mind. And yes I am naming well-known movies on purpose to show that a lot of movies we watch these days actually lend heavily from movies from pre-80s.

The acting is definitely different in different times and with different cultures, I don't think the acting has improved all that much to be honest, the style has just changed.

Not saying I agree with corumjhaelen, he has a rigid view on things imo. I mean, a movie like Le trou is ok, definitely a good movie, but not something amazing in any way, but whatever, different people like different things .

My favorite sci-fi movie, but maybe not the best movie from an objective point of view. As a way of showing personal taste might be different from what people agree on is the best movie, etc. . Watch it!!!

Nah man, those are elitists directors with bad actors.
Also I loved Holy Motors, best movie I've seen in theaters in forever, but I do understand why one can dislike it.$
Edit : @zulu, it seems we haven't met the same Nolan fans, between the people who hail him as a modern Kubrick and those who write critics with references to Kant and Bergson and whatnot...
Personnally I don't think I'm an authority in movies, very far from it. And I don't pretend my opinion has the same value as, let's say, Ebert, contrary to my opponents in this thread. Apparently, that makes me the pedant, but somehow I'm not convinced...
