Could be about love or perhaps something with a lot of human drama (movies about wars/strife).. Mary and Max was the closest movie to making me shed manly tears. It's a movie about a very odd friendship between a young girl and an old man who are pen pals. They are both broken in their own way, and share comfort in each other's letters. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0978762/?ref_=sr_1 Another movie I may recommend is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It's a movie about a couple who undergo a medical procedure to remove one another from their memories, but through the process they come to realize all the good things they had between them. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338013/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

I just saw the movie two days ago and I liked it really really much. Told my co-worker about it, but I couldnt really explain on what exactly was so good in the movie. I guess I just liked a lot about the actors, and the way that the whole movie was written.

This weekend (feb 8-9) the Cinematheque is screening 35mm prints of 8 1/2 and Bicycle Thief. Im pretty sure they are the newly restored prints so they should look amazing. Though the Cinematheque seems to bring in at least one of those movies in every so often it's not everyday you get the chance to see both films in new 35mm prints potentially as a double feature (and who knows how long 35mm will even be an option to see these films). So it's all very exciting here are the links http://www.thecinematheque.ca/bicycle-thieves-experience-essential-cinema http://www.thecinematheque.ca/eight-and-a-half-experience-essential-cinema PS later in the month they're screening Crazy Horse, a documentary about the apparently famed french burlesque troupe. I saw it at VIFF a couple years ago and it really impressed me, it was interesting, funny, erotic without being pornographic or exploitative and the visuals, particularly the lighting, are spectacular.

![]() Watched it in the cinema and while I didn't regret it, I regret that it was my first encounter with the title. No book, no play, not even the script overall for me before. Few facts: - after the credits roll, pretty much everyone admited that the play was better. - everyone admited, that the book was even better. Few thoughts: - Russel Crowe, allthough I like him, was a huge miscast. His voice is just so... not fitting for the character. - Why the director chose to sing the songs live and not in the studio is beyond me. - I've shed a man-tear. Nope. Cried. The main music/song is way up there with the best musical scores and symphonies I ever heard. No wonder this is performed non stop in all the theaters since 1980s. Recommend to see this in a cinema because of the sound alone.

Holy shit, that movie. Just... holy shit. Almost made me want to stop doing drugs for fear of ending up like that. Still a brilliant piece of film.

A great great movie that is just too heavy to watch more than once a year. That teeth grinding scene with the camera panning was ingenious
