I know just the kind of movies you are looking for! Here's a few from the top of my head:
-The Prestige -Gattaca -The Shawshank Redemption -Repo Men -The Fountain -Surrogates -The Matrix -The Truman Show -A Clockwork Orange -Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind -Blade Runner -Minority Report -Being John Malkovich -Synecdoche New York -Pi -Bicentennial Man -Moon -2001: A Space Odyssey
Not all of them are really good movies; they're all movies that have either some insight on a particular subject or are based on a philosophical theme.

Watched that movie while being high as fuck. Everything was okay until the Parade scene popped up and then I just couldn't take anymore. Plus the musical score was...let's just say, something else.

Just saw Contagion, if you liked "Traffic" you'll like this one (Steven Soderburgh involved in both). Very good movie, well acted, interesting plot. Been on HBO a lot lately if you have Comcast.

Caught this on Comedy Central after Colbert Report finished, and surprisingly it's a legitimately decent farce. Absolutely by the numbers plot structure, but it has tons of fun with all the normal teen/romance/sports tropes. Douchey boyfriend being my personal favorite. Recommended if you like something like Zoolander (though it's def. not as good as that one). Some eye candy as well. The leads seem like duds at the beginning but they quickly grow to have a pretty funny dynamic.

Saw this yesterday~ I really enjoyed it. You will like it if you found "A man from nowhere" or "The Chaser"~
+ Show Spoiler + The scene where they show him smiling at 신민아 playing tied the whole movie together I thought~

Woochi
I sentimental for this genre. Wizards and folklore abound.

Dark City......hmmmm, matrix light? i found myself weirdly bored, but maybe that's just because I saw the matrix first? i dunno. 7/10 though, not bad.
I've been trying to find a place to watch Killer Joe.....legally or not...and just can't find anything...what gives lol?

Came out before the matrix, I really loved the atmosphere - last few scenes were poorly done. Just saw We need to talk about Kevin, again. That not getting an oscar nod along with drive and shame is just baffling.

Those are some awesome movies ^^^^ Paprika is so crazy, definitely recommended even to those that don't normally like anime like myself.

God Bless America - 6/10Good Concept, but kind of drawn out, and the writing of the story seemed very linear. It feels and plays out a lot like a mainstream movie that's trying to be "indie". Overall there were a few enjoyable parts, including much of the monologs given by the main character. Bad Ass - 6/10I like Trejo in action movies, but this one follows the same plot most other action movies follow. Guy's friend dies, and cops do nothing. He seeks revenge, turns out to be some big conspiracy. Better off seeing Machete (2010), or Blood and Bone (2009) Battleship - 4/10Special Effects are good. Sloppy writing and plot that feels like any other alien invasion movie. Acting is bad by everyone but Liam. Battle: Los Angles was much better imo. They are basically the same two movies, just this one is set at sea, and the action begins after an hour of random romance crap. Shaolin Soccer - 7/10Not Stephin Chow's masterpiece, but a decent crazy-fu movie. More of a western feel to it, as the plot is pretty much the same as a misfit/underdog sports movie, but with over the top action. The funny bits in this were brilliant though. Killer Elite - 7/10I didn't notice this was in the 80's until the car chase scenes. For a period action piece based around spy's and sabotage, they do a poor job, and try and distract us with some action. Still good performances by the actors though. I guess I'm getting spoiled by foreign films. Your better off seeing Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Less action, but better movie. Jiro Dreams of Sushi - 8.5/10I didn't think I would have been so taken in by a documentary about a sushi chef, but I was. Excellent film, and top notch documentary work. Battle Royale - 8/10Amazing film. The storyline is something that could only come from a Japanese anime. The dystopian feel and mood the movie was great, and the plot and writing for everything was very original. Quentin Tarantino's No.1 movie was no let down. Reservoir Dogs - 9/10Why hadn't I seen this movie before? Why am I not watching this movie right now? This was a masterpiece for any director. It just turned out to be Quentin Tarantino's first film. It brought a feel that was very much its own, and is only topped by Memento, Although they are very different films.
