Fight scenes looked like something made on a high school indie project budget but that didn't detract from the focus of the movie. The movie is in that genre where directors use all the time they have to develop characters and storyline rather than moving around from setting to setting, plot to plot. Overall the movie was meh though. Not bleh. Just meh. Some problems I had. + Show Spoiler + Blonde is not that empathetic. Mostly she just stands there yelling at people to stop. She doesn't take action. The company's motivations are not really justifiable for the trials they put on people. They need someone that can pay attention to details and they use one question to test that? When did deaf change the time? I liked the naming structure.

I remember that movie from a long, long time ago. + Show Spoiler + Yeah, honestly the blonde did not have anything absolutely special as a candidate. Definitely did not seem that compassionate at all. Modern-day job-seekers would be sad. Also, it seemed sort of stupid how the catch was so simple. It's like one of those gotcha/trick questions...

Guy Pearce was also miscast. Nothing made sense, there was no immersion, and everything was just colossally dumb. My cheeks hurt after the movie from laughing so much. American Psycho - 8.5/10 This movie is an utter classic. Visually perfect, a great cast, and superb dialogue. Instantly made it into one of my top ten movies. Who knew it was a dark comedy? It's actually not a horror/thriller and is actually a satirical commentary on the Yuppie Movement of the 1980s. Just genius. Christian Bale is excellent. Jarhead - 6.5/10 I understand why everything in the movie was done in the way that it was done, but I ultimately didn't like it. That doesn't make it a bad movie; in fact it's very good at doing what it's intended to do. Basically, the movie is like a modern Born on the 4th of July but it takes place during the conflict as opposed to mostly after. There's a giant "netorare" streak in the movie, which makes you pity the soldiers even more, but that also makes your taste for the movie even worse. So I suppose in that regard it's very good. Casting is very fitting too. Welcome to the suck. Maybe it really is a horror film, an awful one at that.

Triangle 7.5/10 I wasn't expecting such a mindfuck of a movie. I had a lot of fun piecing everything together. Just a well done thinking man's horror movie all around. The Loved Ones 8/10 There's not much to say about this movie other than if you enjoyed Saw and Hostel you'll like it. And even if you didn't, this movie easily stands out as the best all-around torture horror movie. I felt empathetic towards the main character throughout the movie and it made some of the scenes all the more painful and powerful to take in. The villain has a really demented family and it was done convincingly. Happy Birthday To Me 5/10 Not too much stood out about this relatively unknown 80s slasher movie. It was enjoyable enough to sit through at least. I did enjoy the twists toward the end, but didn't feel like it was credible in the slightest and just sort of tacked on. I think it would have been better without the final twist in fact. The House of The Devil 5/10 Though this was produced within the last couple years, the styling and effects are all from the 80s. For an 80s styled horror flick it was decent. My biggest issues were the over-reliance on dissonant music to force a feeling of suspension and the extremely long wait before anything possibly horrifying occurred. The last 15 minutes were great and the rest of the movie was entertaining enough to watch at least. The Mist 3/10 Really didn't like this movie. This movie has some of the worst CGI I've ever seen. It totally broke my enjoyment of the movie with how out of place it felt. And this movie only came out a few years ago! I didn't feel like the story was credible in any sense whatsoever and it became a movie primarily of horribly done CGI creatures hopping on people, with some survivalist drama added (also interesting to note - at least three of the actors/actresses also star in The Walking Dead). The survivalist drama was the part it should have excelled at, but the characters reactions were so incredulous I just could not take it seriously.

Event Horizon 5/10 Average sci-fi movie. A dimension is opened up and it's evil. There, I saved you from watching it ![]() Sphere 4.5/10 Great talented cast, poor execution and story. Oh and the ending left me really dissatisfied. Had some moments where I thought it would develop into something good, but stayed at the average-mediocre instead. Exam 5.5/10 Didn't know what to expect coming in to seeing this movie. It was somewhat interesting, though I feel like in more capable hands it would have been a much better movie. It's a movie that will keep your mind entertained trying to figure out what's going on, along with the characters who are confused as well. On that part, it excels, and is pretty decent because of it. It's really a watch-it-once-and-forget-it movie though. Rosemary's Baby 7.5/10 This is a classic psychological thriller IMO. There's a lot of creepiness and paranoia and you generally feel bad for the woman who is enduring it throughout the movie. She reaches out for support, but cannot figure out who she can really trust anymore. However, at some parts I was just saying out loud "wtf are you doing?", which in one sense meant I was engaged in the movie, but in another sense, I would have liked the main character to be a little more reasonable. + Show Spoiler + I don't know if it was intentional or not, but as the movie went on I was sure "tanass root" was supposed to be what the anagram referred to - 'tanas' backwards is 'satan'. There was no mention of what the "tanas root" referred to, other than some people saying they simply never heard of that herb before. Dark City 8/10 Loved it. The styling and the world everyone is in was really fascinating to me. Highly recommended for sci-fi fans.

An old sci-fi movie that everyone knows the ending to before seeing it + Show Spoiler + "Soylent green is people!" Men in Black 3 7/10 I cannot even recall what happened in Men in Black 2, but Men in Black 3 was entertaining and hilarious. A sequel that actually was on par or better than the original! I was quite surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Prometheus 5/10 Mediocre sci-fi film. The plot lacks depth, the character development is poor, but there is some cool visuals and ideas - just wish they were scripted and executed better.

Very surreal and full of grotesque humour. Philip Seymour Hoffman did a really excellent job playing Caden since you don't often think about an annoying character that he's played brilliantly and you can't help yourself but even identify with him. If only the messages of the film and its atmosphere were just a slight bit less depressing despite all the grotesque irony trying to balance it out, then it would've been 10/10. Highly recommended. Spider-Man 3 1/10 I didn't think a Spider Man movie with Venom in it could be terrible. Well I was proven wrong. To be fair, the problem was that he wasn't really in it. Extremely long and boring with no substance. Super 8 1/10 I don't understand the praise. Probably if I were 10 years younger I'd have liked this. This way, however, it felt like one of the biggest wastes of 2 hours. Very boring and predictable plot that gives you the impression that you've seen it before a million times but done better or equally badly; uninteresting, one-sided characters; terrible humour; and explosions. I watched this expecting it to be really fun after hearing only very positive stuff about it, only to be horribly disappointed.

![]() + Show Spoiler + I didnt fcking realize he was gonna amputate his own arm at the end. Holy dear god, I was not expecting that AT ALL. I went into this with zero information at all, except that it was a good watch from other people and I thought the premise was interesting. It was a pretty good movie. But goddamn, that ending, especially the part where he was cutting out his own nerve tendons. OUCH.

Well, I just saw Exam based on the recommendations in this thread, and though I thought it was only okay, it does fulfill the requirements you're looking for. Also, The Box I liked very much.
