So I watched The Fifth Element on TV right after and imagined ways they would ruin everything if they were to make a sequel.

It had a better plotline I felt (actual reasoning for certain choices), decent humor and a stronger message/meaning. Also, Emma Stone is really hot. If you watched the movie you would know

This actually is the single worst movie I've ever seen that I expected to have merit (so throwing out stuff I knew would be bad and watched for the fun of that). It's completely artless, the main character is the hammiest, smuggest ass I've ever seen and you are supposed to closely identify with him (he's basically the audience's proxy in the movie, I forget if there's a literary term for that), and the whole thing is so proud of its completely unsubtly delivered right wing, moralistic platitudes that are divulged in weird scenarios that are supposed to "make you think" but really barely touch the surface of any issue they raise. Truly one of the worst pieces of tripe I've ever laid eyes on. While I agree with some of your points, you realise not every movie has to be a flawless piece of art fused with entagling cerebral labyrinths. For a simple light hearted movie I think it's quite ok mostly because it doesn't take itself too seriously. I'd prefer movies like that than pretentious artsy hit or miss, which miss 99% of the time, movies every day of the week. I've seen A History of Violence too neurosis, xD. If you got any other recs like these pls tell me.

The first half was pretty much is pretty much what is advertised but it does a complete 180 the second half and turns it into an above average drama with real world situations. Did someone call my name? I saw the previews for this movie and got pissed off. Magic Mike has been my nickname since wrestling way back when (1994). People would always say good luck before a match and I would respond with "I don't need luck. I'm magic." My coach started to call me Magic Mike and it stuck. Now all my friends laugh and people who don't know me think I stole it from a goddamn male stripper.

I don't mind lighthearted at all, some of my favorite movies are lighthearted and simple, it's just this one felt utterly as obnoxious as you can get at every point in it, and quite dumb while posing as or thinking it will be making you think, or horrifically (I'm shuddering at the idea that this movie could possibly have had this effect on people), changing your life outlook if you go along with the main character's personal journey.

Edit: just read through the last pages of comments. How can one not acknowledge the genius of stanley kubrick... Every movie made by him is a masterpiece and ties the viewer to the screen.

The older ones are better though, cuz they have stronger characters(imo due to better cast) and the relationships between Peter and everyone else have more tension. Also, no Mary Jane is weird. 5,5/10 Edit: just read through the last pages of comments. How can one not acknowledge the genius of stanley kubrick... Every movie made by him is a masterpiece and ties the viewer to the screen. this movie is based on the alternate universe spiderman where he has no web skill so he forged his own. also Mary Jane's alternate IS Gwen. (emma stone hot as...) there were 2 spiderman comics released if i recall. both same spidery story but just different. In the movie, loved. absolutely LOVED how Stan Lee is just awesome XD id say 8/10 because seeing as the original spiderman is ther to contrast it, didnt really go that step further but the cliff hanger at the end was a good finishing touch =)

![]() Amazingly distinct vision, and it's constantly finding poignancy in the littlest interactions. Only a few quirks miss the mark, which is pretty usual for me with Wes Anderson (the only one of his I've seen that I really didn't like was The Royal Tenenbaums, but usually I'm like 85% of his little quirks hit, 15% miss or so) and the mostly fade in the face of the moving whole. This is the best of his that I've seen. The only consistent thing that does nothing for me is the offhand death or dismissal of deadly occurances (also see big gunfight in The Life Aquatic) that seems to recur. I guess it can be seen as an exaggeration to draw attention to how monumental, yet un-monumental the personal journeys are but I had to dig for that, they don't really have much of an immediate impact on me other than WTF?

Saw this last night in the cinema, and well it was pretty good, i was looking forward to a better version of the originals even though i loved the originals (yeah im like the only one i know!) and i was quite suprised at how much i liked what i saw. New actors were great, nothing beats Martin Sheen as uncle ben for the limited time he was in it, i just love how good of an actor he is! Alex was a great Spidy as well, highly suggest you watch it! Hoping for more as well. 8/10 Green Lantern;IMDB Of Film Never got round to watch this at the cinema so it finally came out on Sky (english satelite TV) and i enjoyed it, was a good story, with some good scripts. The movie wasn't to long nor to short, was just the right amount for a good solid super hero film. Ending was kind of good too, and was some nice action scenes in it as well. 7/10 Friends With Benefits;IMDB Of Film This i was quite surpised at how good and emersed i found myself in it! Was a great Rom-Com i guess it is classified as. It had Justin Timberlake for the females and Mila Kunis for the males, and well, wooow! What a great film it was, had it all from the highs of lows to how it started to how it ended, a great story all round. If you want to watch a good film with your girlfriend or someone you want to be your girlfriend show her this! Great film. 8.5/10

![]() The Intouchables. Amazing film, very well desering the 8.5 it got at imdb. It has no low moments, I guess you could say it's a drama thought it's always cheerful. I highly recommend this movie. Be sure to check the real story it's based on after you see it ![]()

During JP's interview with djWheat on RealTalk, djWheat mentioned his background as a hacker, which lead to a discussion on the movie Hackers. I agree with both of them that it's hilarious and terribly unrealistic. djWheat recommended the movie Sneakers for a more realistic hollywood portrayal of hacking, so I decided to give it a shot. The movie started off strong, but mid way through and towards the end it fell into mediocrity. There was more social engineering being portrayed than hacking. The movie just didn't have anything that particularly stood out about it as interesting or worth recommending, IMO. 21 Jump Street 7/10 I haven't been enjoying many recent comedy movies, but thankfully this one was an exception. I really enjoyed the performances, timings, and overall fun of the film. I couldn't help but burst out laughing throughout the movie. Overall, just a really fun movie to watch and I think most people would find it hilarious as well. (Also, I had no idea it was based off a serious TV drama series until after seeing the movie and looking it up on Wikipedia) Blow Out 8/10 Thanks to recommendations by some of you TL'ers I checked this movie out. I wasn't sure what to expect other than a thought provoking film - one where there is a puzzle you try to put together throughout the film. The puzzle itself wasn't particularly difficult, I mean, it's not like I have to watch it multiple times to understand what really was going on, or even think about the movie afterwards. It's pretty clearly explained what happened in the movie. With that said though, that's not the importance of this movie. I really liked all the details shown of the ways early soundmen did their jobs. The performances by Travolta and Lithgow were outstanding. And how the plot unraveled and the stories were told really was superbly done. Highly recommended to check out.

I think this movie can be summarized breifly by this image. + Show Spoiler + ![]() Because. Why? Simultaneously scary(not in a horror kind of way) as can be, and disturbing. And thought provoking. 7/10. Very unusual.....well done...but......why??

This movie is just a pretentious rip off of Castle of Purity, a Mexican movie from the 70s. It has zero redeeming qualities that I could find. I am offended this movie was even considered for any kind of award, much less an Oscar. The extent of this movie's "thought provoking" is pointing out that children can be raised to believe lamps are called + Show Spoiler + pussies vaginas People are praising it on IMDB for being "Sharp, political, satire." That should be a warning in and of itself. This movie only exists for people that want to feel like they are watching something edgy, simply for the sake of being edgy. I felt pandered to.

Breaking Bad & Boardwalk Empire are the only ones that were even remotely close in the "WTF THIS IS SO GOOD CANNOT STOP WATCHING" department since The Wire, and Cowboy Bebop & Samurai Champloo, well, I never watched an anime again :s I went to the cinemas to see sherlock holms 2 just after finishing The Wire, realy after like 15 minutes, the first fight scene where the skinny holmes smashes this group of 5 'hitman' i went out, felt so stupid.. i didnt watch any action/drama movie since, only comedys. To contribute, watched Friends with Kids last night, quite ok romantic comedy with usaual stereotypes and you know how it ends after 30 minutes, but the cast is realy realy good ( adam scott, jon hamm, kristen wiig, maya rudolph, megan fox ( ... ) ). would rate it ~6-7/10
