Right now.
It's Japanese, and it's amazing. It's about a class of high schoolers who get put on an island for one purpose: The last man standing wins! Each student is giving a different random weapon and is left to his or her own means. It's funny slightly disturbing and everything you'd expect from a a Japanese movie. One of the best and most unique creations ever made. Go find me five people that haven't seen battle royale ^^

Cowboys and Aliens is an awesome movie. It gives you exactly what you want and a little bit more. Unless you went in thinking it was going to be a Reservoir Dogs or something, I don't see how you could be disappointed.

Getting the most out of this thread before I have to go back to school. I agree that Cowboys and Aliens is watchable if you go into with the right expectations, it's not Citizen Kane.

I've heard references to it for years, and finally got around to watching. It was a really good movie. I probably would have liked it a bit better when I was going through the angsty teenage phase, but I would still say it's a 4.5/5.
I recommend it to all.

It had a good ending but other than that the rest of the movie was boring as fuck. Plus the main character + Show Spoiler + for the most pussy-assed reason.
+ Show Spoiler +What was it again, that his dad wouldn't let him star in a play? Boo fucking hoo.

X-Men First Class
Quite a decent movie. Although I am not a fan of X-Men so I wasn't too impressed. But still, the story was interesting enough as it shows how it all started. Visuals were pretty stunning as well.
Jûsan-nin no shikaku (13 assassins)
Again a pretty nice movie. It's a decent mix between foreign Japanese samurai movies and your typical Hollywood action. I guess this makes it pretty watchable especially for those who don't watch a lot of Asian movies. That being said, for me personally it was a bit too much Hollywood in the mix.

Well you just missed the entire fucking point of the film.
As for me, I've just finished watching The Kid (1921) which is a Charlie Chaplin film. It's a fantastic film, the original 'best film ever'. Recommend it to anyone who has an interest in silent films, and even to those who don't.

probably the best psychological thriller i've ever seen... (and yes, i've seen memento and the usual suspects)
another psychological thriller movie i recently watched Orphan, turned out to be really good.

I didn't really like it, purely due to after 2hrs and 10minutes, it ends with you not even knowing if its reality or dream world! What a waste of 2hrs and 10minutes of my life! 8/10
+ Show Spoiler +The point isn't whether it's a dream or reality (although the safe assumption is reality). It is that Cobb is reunited with his kids and happy for once. He doesn't care where he is and you shouldn't either

Just watched Limitless last night with my friends and I found it to be quite entertaining.
IMDb summary: A writer discovers a top-secret drug which bestows him with super human abilities.
I don't really want to spoil anything but basically the drug let's him use 100% of his brainpower instead of the normal 20% that humans use.
It was a good watch, the plot was entertaining enough for me and the camera work and lighting was pretty well done.

I disliked it. I was expecting Planet Terror'ish level of epic, but thought it was mostly really, eh, basic. It could've been insanely awesome and over the top crazy, but instead it was lukewarm, few good ideas here and there but mostly completely forgettable. Was expecting more of it, even though the plot is kind of stupid as is.

Just saw this thanks to your recommendation, not an incredible movie but quite enjoyable, I watched it from http://stagevu.com/video/diveqmkcvkgu

I really liked Super 8. It had a real mystery feel, a logical plot, real characters, and some funny moments. It's so refreshing to actually see a movie where the characters act like real human beings and a plot that fucking makes sense instead of crap like Tron, Priest, Pirates of the Caribbean, Age of the Dragons (lol), I Am Number Four, etc. Gave it an 8/10.

2 movies i have watched recently and loved...

Actually I watched the whole series.
Does anyone have more good movies with aliens that actually interact with other characters? I've seen a few but I'm left wanting more...

Saw Colombiana tonight.. wasn't bad, I liked it ^_^

Entertaining and funny British sci fi thriller where alien beasts invade a London council estate.

Columbiana sucked.
It's just like any action movie, except you cut out 50% more dialog and character development.
Shark Night. I'm too biased about things unrelated to Shark Night to give it an honest review. Watch it with a squeamish friend if you have one that will go.

Ow lol, don't watch this without (at least) English subtitles. You will be missing so much from not understanding wth they're saying :D.
