Alien - Great movie, has a great atmostphere and it's even better if you dont know anything about the plot or future alien movies. 9/10 However, the sequel "Aliens" by James Cameron is even better, and really brings action to the series. Has a great plot and amazing suspense 9.5/10 "Alien 3" and "Alien: Resurrection" are alright, but nothing compared to the other two, 6/10 for both of them. Dont bother unless you really want to see more :D The Thing (82' remake) - The best alien movie i've ever watched. The special effects are insanely good and the plot is even better. So much better than any modern horror or sci-fi movie. 10/10
Hell yeah, +1 to Alien and The Thing, but especially The Thing. That movie has slowly over time become one of, if not my absolute favorite movies. It's just awesome in every aspect. I would also recommend The Host and Slither for modern creature features (both are also really quite funny). The Host is directed by the same guy (Joon-ho Bong) that did Memories of Murder which is simply amazing, also worth checking out.
I've been on a samurai rampage as of late. Just watched....
13 Assassins http://www.metacritic.com/movie/13-assassins
I would definitely recommend it to those that are fans of the genre but it's directed by Takashi Miike so be warned about his rather distinct portrayal of violence.

Just watched this http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1704312576/tt0816462 Conan the Barbarian, the new one. So shitty like it had cliches everywhere and they were trying to hype it up as much as possible reminds me of the Clash of the Titans, which was actually better in the graphic department

just have to say that the ending cut in Inception is one of the 10most amazing cuts in movies i've ever seen!
have seen "Paul" lately and it was realy entertaining. funny and lighthearted but still making you ask some important questions here and there and then showing u a naked alien smoking a cigarette the next moment

Watched "The Rite" recently. Anthony Hopkins continues to amaze me with his roles.

This movie left me in awe. It was simply amazing. Definitely watch if you are into movies with a philosophical theme.

Has anyone watched Colombiana? I want to know if it is actually good plot wise, or if its just boobs'n'bullets

I watched 12 angry men, and my god was it good, they sure don't make movies like they used to, it was made in 1957, and its one of the best movies ive ever seen. Had me hooked from the beginning, great acting, cast, script, the whole thing was brilliant

Watched return of the planet of the apes last night, and it was preety good considering i went in with low expectations, thinking the story would be terrible, but actually, was a very good movie, dont know what else to say about it.
I also watched Rear Window, a classic in my eyes, with one of my favorite actors Jimmy Stewart, and possibly my favorite director of all time, Mr. Alfred Hitchcock. Another old school movie, but damnit, movies these days are terrible, so going back into the 50's and watching some really good movies is a treat, highly recommend!

Most pointless movie I've ever watched.

In The Electric Mist
Pretty good. TLJ badass as ever.

The Man From Nowhere
Also good. Might switch to asian cinema alltogether because Hollywood has turned stale.
Primal Fear
It's been a long time since I saw this movie last time. So good.

Too lazy to look up the posters and rehost them, but for those of you interested in strange Asian films, perhaps I can spare you some of the horrors that are out there. Korean cinema is doing well measured by output in meters of film (probably all digital but bytes make such awkward metaphors), but their stories and acting are just a little too uplifting for my neck hair. And when will someone finally take the Crown of Strange from Japan?
Revenge of the zebra miniskirt police (jp duh?) Three models in underwear doing policy stuff while being called zebras or something -I didn't have any subs for this one, but I don't think the dialogue is really important. It's slightly better than Swim-girls attack team versus the undead, a little less completely detached from reality.
Densha Otoko (Train man) About an otaku who meets a woman on a train and tries to get things going with the help of a bunch of random people on the internet. Rather clichély done, but decent.
Space Battleship Yamato Earth was attacked by random aliens, the last human spaceship under the command of a kind of Nemo-ish captain sets out to remedy the situation. The earth-side part is nicely done, humans are played remarkebly well considering the genre, but the aliens are rather kitschy and cheap CGI.
My rainy days (jp) An enjo-kosaiing girl (weirdest conjugation of the week lol) meets a dying architect and, notwithstanding her principles, falls in love. Things get rather convoluted. Supporting characters are rather good, protagonists may either be totally miscasted or perfectly right for the job. Story was nice too.
Antique Bakery (kr) A guy opens a bakery, hires a genius gay master baker/playboy, an ex-boxer and a mildly retarded body guard of sorts. There also is a side-plot but it isn't any good and unimportant. The premise sounds strange, but I rather liked it. Possibly gets you very hungry.
A moment to remember (kr) Posh girl meets carpenter boy, boy becomes an architect, girl gets alzheimer. Decent story, but the acting is not up to it.
Innocent steps (kr) A dancing-gosu comes out of retirement with an important Chinese dance-godess, only she sent her aegyo 1.40 30kg 18 year old sister. Guess what happens... The dancing bit was ok, romance as well, but the rest of the story is just complete ***
Nodame Cantabile I & II Child prodigy conductor and messed up piano savante do all kinds of classical music. Child prodigy is played by a 40 year old, all the french speak Japanese. Watch the anime if at all.

Just watched "Serenity" again (the movie of the Firefly series).
![[image loading]](http://www.arlingtondrafthouse.com/images/serenity.jpg)
And it's the first time i feel like i've actually fallen in love with a movie. The whole firefly/serenity series is just about the best thing you can ever watch, I think i've watched the series about 14 times or so, gonna rewatch the movie again tonight.
If you watch Firefly, and then watch Serenity and you dont absolutely love it i really dont know what to say, i actually think that's impossible. I recommend it to everyone! But you gotta watch the series first, the movie will be so much more satisfying after that.
10/10 no doubt probably the best movie i've ever watched. Most people probably have a favorite movie that's more serious or "deep" or whatever, but this is just the most entertaining and immersive thing i've ever seen. If you just watch the movie then it might not be nothing more than a good action sci-fi, but if you've watched Firefly first then you'll love it.

Mystic River
Clint Eastwood is a genious. Enough said.
Arlington Road
I must say it's been a while since a movie freaked the hell out of me. I don't know if this movie is awesome, I only know I'm scared of it now.

Had somewhat high hopes for the movie before watching it due to high ratings here and there and talks about the Oscars. Holy crap how well Charlize Theron performed in this one. The story is well told, I enjoyed the characters and Theron's acting was astounding enough to be a reason as to why this movie is worth watching.
