 I was up until 3am listening to the first book on mp3! It's extremely engaging and very easy to get swept up in. That being said, I have some predictions on far future events for people that have already read the book. Do not read this spoiler if you haven't read the first book! + Show Spoiler [Future stuff] + I already hated the Lannisters but after what they made Ned do to Lady (Sansa's Wolf) i was quite literally enraged. I can only hope that in the future that bitch burns at the stake or is left on a stake for the "others." As for Bran and his would-be assassin, the book is making it sound like the gimp arranged it but I think his brother is framing him by stealing the knife and giving it to the assassin as a plant. Still, seems retarded to do that considering either way it's a Lannister knife. I also think that Catelyns old "friend" (i cant recall his name off the top of my head, the one that wanted her and challenged Neds brother to duel for her) is going to turn out to be a double agent for the Lannisters even though he professes to be her friend etc | ||

+ Show Spoiler + after the slain wolf mother part, jon snow mentions of the 5 pups representing their family sigil but at the start of the series i only count 4 legitimate children of ned (bran, aya, sansa, rob with jon snow being the bastard) with 1 bastard child, and another kid theon who's a friend of the stark family. who is the 5th legitimate child of ned? anyway can't wait for 2nd episode. so want to get the books now | ||

I don't know of anywhere you can watch the show legally outside of subscribing to HBO (or what ever international channel is broadcasting it for your country). The whole draw of HBO as a premium cable channel is they have content you can't get anywhere else. Eventually it will hit DVD and probably itunes and other legal on demand providers, but that is usually just before the next season starts, so about a year away. Hopefully those who can't wait and decide to use "other ways" will buy the dvd or blu ray when it comes out so HBO has the support for a 3rd season. | ||
