I sincerely believe this show is the best book adaptation I've ever seen so far.

We can see that he's not the scoundrel he was displayed as, he has empathy and carrying inside him (saving her from being raped). I feel like, at worst, he'll last another 2-3 seasons if not all the way through.

I have the feeling that he's gonna have a big part to play later in the story, and that he's in the end going to defy his father in some way. I think this whole journey with Brienne is going to profoundly change him and that afterwards he's not going to be the douche he was in the previous seasons. By the way I never thought I could be capable of feeling sorry for the Kingslayer but I have to admit I did when he was once again beaten by those thugs, with his hand hanging off of a rope right next to his nose.

Was Ser Barristan ever in the small council meetings when Varys was talking about Jorrah spying on Dany? That would create hella drama. Jorrah obviously has stopped feeding information to the capital, but that would be a potential relationship ruiner if Barristan told that to Danarys. Thoughts?

I think the hand chop was the beginning of his redemption arc. He can no longer rely on his daddy, he has lost his fighting skills and I wouldnt be surprised if they tortured him some more so he can no longer rely on his good looks. Basically turning him into a completely different character.

I don't remember if Ser Barristan was in any of those scenes. On a related note HBO included a particularly old scene in next weeks recap:

Regardless, Brianne only marginally defeated some random knight at Renly's Touranment. Clearly shes a good knight [on top of the physical strength], but they make Jaime off to be one of the best swordsmen on the planet. Marginally defeating a random Knight at Renlys tourny hardly inspires to me the notion that Brienne is amongst the worlds best. also its questionable whether or not he could beat jaime in single combat even if he was fully healthy. he definitely could not with an injury though. Trial by combat pretty much ensures the Lannisters are guilt free. Jaime is such a skilled swordsman (was i guess) that there are quite few people who could beat him, the mountain, Bronn, Briann, Ned (on a good day), are probably the only people seen so far that could beat him though possibly Selmy could i'm not sure how well his sword arm aged. And as you know most of those people serve/served the lannisters. edit: she literally was disarmed and won by checking the guy to the ground. I imagine Jaime could disarm her far easier than that knight did, and I dont think he'd be foolish enough to get checked to the ground by her either.

Didn't she beat Loras tyrell who is one of the best swordsmen in the seven kingdoms (certainly the best in the tyrell's army) and not some random? And Jaime seemed to think Ned could beat him, hence why jaime was so upset that a soldier stabbed ned mid duel he wanted to see if he could beat ned.

Even if she does find out about his past it would be so fucked up if she did anything about it. He has been there for her since day 1 and saved her life twice. Recaps always give away big spoilers. :/

I still dont see Brienne getting out sworded (??) by Loras and checking him to the ground as anything resembling enough to think she could take Jaime. Loras hasnt even been to war, hes like twenty. The experience factor is entirely different.jaime has said in the past that there are several people in westeros who would be challenging (or could beat him) with a sword. he's among the best, not necessarily the best.

Jaime said that Ned was one of the best, and that jaime wanted to prove himself the better swordsman, if you know you can beat someone you don't have anything to prove. its not that someone interfered, its his reaction to the soldier that interfered that supports this.

When did he say this? The only time I recall him saying anything about his own skill level was the first episode of season 1 when he goading Ned. He mentioned that the competition at court was getting stale.
