I know it has been said before, but I can't help but mentioning that it's so absurd that people are absolutely fine with watching a guy ripping another guys tongue out with the whole family (perhaps even younger siblings?) around than some folks doing the most normal thing on the world.^^ That being said I understand criticism of needless sexscenes just to get some more viewers.

Or he could have escaped in any other amount of ways -- the guy's a fucking badass. I for one think he survived... I really hope he does. He'll meet Arya one day again, and she'll be a baller with the sword. As soon as Arya escaped, first thing I thought was 'she's going to get into the forest. She'll get into trouble, and her wolf will come save her.' It's going to happen. Or something similar. =P As for the nudity... I remember Day9 talking about the show, and how he saidh e reccomended it to his mom not knowing what it was, only to be horrified at the nudity at every turn. I saw Spartacus like a month ago and was expecting something similar, but its relatively very very tame. Only one penis that I can remember, and the only vagina barley counted. People are such prudes =P
The Kingsguard guy that was left with Syrio was also in the throne room scene at the end, so Syrio didn't kill him. Syrio only had a broken wooden sword, and the guards he had knocked down already started rising. Of course, he could have escaped. Varys said they killed all of the Stark household, but he did not necessarily count Syrio into that.

Considering the author of the books directed it, and deliberately left it open-ended.......I think he's alive. Maybe.

I think you might be right, after he was unarmored, unarmed, relatively immobile (cause he had to stall while Arya was getting away) vs 1 Kingsguard fully armored and 3 City guards, again fully armored who suffered serious damage by being hit in the helmet with a wooden sword.
That's like saying a zerling could kill one Tank sieged and 3 goliaths with 1 hp each because he has legs and glands researched.

I can't check right now but couldn't you hear a metal sword hit the floor when arya left the room?

Yeah so? Syrio wasn't using any metal sword. Oh I see what you did there!

Just checked, it was there indeed, but also with a scream. The guard guy was still alive near the end.
One thing to note is that as Arya was leaving one of the knocked down guards rose on his feet again.

I loved the episode sansa was hearthbreaking when she got on her knees. Varys was strange, i dont really know.
Robb was the leader i allways imagined him to be, i just wish the episodes would last 3 hours every week, i woudnt have mind more time with the clans, more time at the wall.
cant wait for next monday.
as a side note HODOR he cheats with pushups ;-)

He also says: "The first sword of Bravos(sp?) does not run."
We can either assume he reneged on that statement when faced with the full armored Kingsguard and ran when Arya was safe or that he was killed or that he was subdued and held captive. More likely than not he would have been killed if he had been subdued given what he had done to the Lannister guardsmen.
I hope he's alive because he's a badass and an awesome character but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I don't see why he wouldn't be alive. Everyone else who has died they've shown get killed.

Probably something left intentionally openended in the books so GRRM could bring him back if it made sense, and that carried over to the show.

I think after Arya had gotten away safely Syrio could have possibly tried to escape. I doubt anyone would doubt the honor/courage of someone who decided to run from a fully armored knight armed with a steel sword. Not to mention the Lannister men at arms were coming to and would rejoin the fight and Syrio's wooden sword was cut in half.
On the other hand he may have thought that he should try and delay them for as long as possible to ensure that Arya would get away safely.
Given these facts it's likely that he would have stayed and fought given his "no running" stance and the necessity to ensure Arya's escape. Let's assume he did fight though.
In that case he was either killed or subdued and taken captive or he somehow disabled the Kingsguard knight without killing him and then escaped. If he was subdued I feel like he would have been killed on the spot for the damage he inflicted on the Lannister men at arms but it's possible he could have been thrown in the dungeons for torture/information (unsure if he had any but I suppose it's possible).
Given that Meryn Trant appears later in the episode and doesn't seem hurt it would imply that he killed Syrio or captured him. But it's possible that Syrio knocked him out with the hilt of his wooden sword or something like that and then escaped. This wouldn't leave a visible mark on Meryn if he was wearing his helmet (like he was in the throne room scene).
