There are inevitably many influences on the world he created. But ultimately Martin can use each one to whatever extent he wants and he can make stuff up whenever he wants. It's a ridiculous exercise to refer back to one of his influences to theorize about something he hasn't explained. And your foray into such an exercise was exceptionally poor. I could agree that Daenerys should probably have a higher body fat percentage than Adriana Lima has but you chose to widen the scope beyond any hope of validity. 'Underfed' is the wrong word to use but you stubbornly use it anyway. Then you say you use it for all models and admit that only most models are underfed. How am I supposed to respect you at all? You should consider that learning things on your own and attempting to display your knowledge in public is a much worse practice than learning things both privately and publicly and using social interaction as an exchange rather than as a competition. First of all English is not my 1st language and I try to explain my point the best I can. And your last part was a personal attack which was not needed. Now for the first part. I am sorry but I do not agree with you. We do not have any other reference but middle ages and whether you agree or not it is extremely close to it by his descriptions. This whole exercise is a guessing game and if we take upon your logic then it is pointless to discuss anything about Martin's world because your argument can be used for anything that does not fit your (or anyone) version. How did I widen the scope? You deny that women were in the past (and even today in some parts of the world) judged by their ability to have children and that most considered those that were not thin and underfed to be the more fertile ones? Also you deny that art in the past mostly showed us fatter and chubby women? These are all signs what men preferred then.

Many of the characters are described as being slender and beautiful in the eyes of the characters. Sure they did judge the women in their ability to have children but it wasn't near the top of the list unless they were known to be infertile or something like that.

The show is close enough to portraying middle age, and whether slightly bigger women were considered more beautiful is beside the point. Especially as neither of the two women are significantly larger or smaller than the other. I agree. I also think that Dany is portrayed perfectly. The actress is beautiful in her role.

Absolutely, I got my two roommates into this and they're the least fantasy type guys you get. If you like fantasy and hbo, why aren't you watching already? ![]()

Tyler - So chill yet so deep. I think people are simply looking too deeply in to things and over-analyzing. As its been mentioned this isn't a medieval story, it doesn't originate on Earth... it is a fictional world to fit the story. Enjoy it for what it is and if you can't, if you can't look past something because its too unbelievable then Fantasy might not by your genre.

Concerning the wolves in the show: i hope they dont CGI the shit out of them.

I' d however go so far as to say the books has more focus on sexual tensions but it isn't such a big drama because people read it alone, not together with other people. That said, sex is one of the driving forces in humans and a defining part of any relationship. Much insight can be gained into a character by the way they fuck someone. Anyway, great show so far. Here's to hoping it comes full circle and doesn't get cancelled somewhere halfway through season 2 or so.
