Well this is one of GRRM's things isn't it? Sometimes, it seems like the show is building up to something, and then it completely drops it. It's like life and less like a fairytale. Sometimes things don't work out as they would if Bruce Willis was doing it. | ||

I know Oberyn was cocky and confident, but daggers againt the Mountain is really making your life harder than it needs to be. | ||

that kill was fucking intense and I was fistpumping how in control of the fight he was and then he gets careless  (( RIP Pedro was such an awesome actor though, shame Oberynn's character was so shortlived. oh and PLS tell me Sansa and Arya are actually going to meet ;( just give me a stark reuinion for once.... although her laughing at Lysa's death was kinda hilarious in front of all the Veil soldiers. I'm only a showwatcher but the hound talking about poison being a weapon for girls, Tyrion explicitedly mentioning Oberynn nickname "the red viper" once again and the camera showing his squire wiping his spear before the fight leads me to believe he actually used poison. | ||

Trying to fight the mountain with daggers is suicide. He is heavily armoured, can clearly take a pounding so daggers arent gonna hurt too much, also if you get close to the mountain we all know now what he can do with his hands  A spear allowed oberyn to match the mountains reach with his huge one handed greatsword. This with oberyn being agile and dancing around meant the mountain had a hard time even reaching his opponent. It is a better combat choice than daggers. The poison bit was probably to just throw around ideas as to who killed joffre so viewers seconds guess the most obvious answer. | ||
