That said, the direction it went recently was pretty annoying. I liked Debra as a foul-mouthed ladette who strived for her father's approval by putting her soul into police work. The whole love angle/covering for Dexter and general mental breakdown was an attempt to make her 'deeper' imo but has done the opposite. It's so annoying that women characters have to have all of this unnecessary baggage added so frequently in shows that have long runs | ||

Also the segments with Deb are kind of a cool contrast to the failry cartoony style that the show has had, it feels a lot darker. | ||
