At best, I could imagine him trying to kill a GoD, but the U9 one is already gone. He was noting earlier on that this tournament was something special in that even the gods were on edge. I definitely think there is some villain there.

I don't think I follow. Frieza said that? When? Perhaps I had a few too many beers prior to the scene you're describing.

I personally have a hard time thinking that a character who is hyped with such power and scheminess is just going to see things through to the end with no sneaky shit in the middle.

Honestly, don't fully see how Freiza can take advantage of this situation. I mean, sure, the gods are worried and such but even then, I just can't see it.

Freeza won't touch the angels or GoDs. He knows he has no chance against them. His best bet would be to slowly toss off U7 warriors until only Vegeta, Toppo, Jiren, Hit, and Goku remain. Then it's truly a free for all.

So what could he possibly do, though? I think Whis could conceivably 1-shot frieza. And there are lot of angels. And the grand priest.
...and zenoh.
I just don't see what he could ever actually do unless you mean just kinda suicide bombing U7 for the sake of fucking over Goku

lol, sorry, didn't really think of it like that. I am asking what LL thinks Frieza would actually do because I think I am misunderstanding what his angle would be. But yeah sorry didn't mean to post the same thing as you. For whatever its worth, I had the same thought. I disagree with the idea that Frieza would focus on other U7 warriors at any point. If that happened, Goku and probably Vegeta would intervene. Frieza can not take out U7 people while fighting off Goku unless Goku is extremely busy.

I've been trying to work out what motivates him the most right now, and not too sure. He's demonstrated wanting to fight Goku again, wanting to kill Goku by the most efficient means, torturing people because evil and survival at all costs (even more so if it results in the former happening).

I can only say that I don't know. But tell me that Freeza doesn't look like he's being set up as a secret wildcard villain here.
|
He's seen to be pretty invested in fighting Jiren in the opening credits, so I could see Freeza knocking U7 off with other fighters and going "Oops! Didn't see you there!" And laughing. Remember, he struck a deal with Frost before the tourney officially began. There's that to consider as well.
And no harm about the post, just wanted to know if you didn't see it or if you and LL were going back and forth.

Until just like 5 episodes ago we had Buu in the opening credits. The first opening credits had lots of generic villains being fought. At no point did Minsk's or Hit make the opening credits. I don't trust the opening credits.

Don't wanna ruin everything! Gotta leave something to look forward to. We'll see how it all comes down. We got about 10 episodes to go.

I really don't think so. This feels a lot more like Piccolo and Vegeta being brought into the gang more than it does a betrayal. Remember how Vegeta would always help out and say "but FYI, I am legit killing Goku as soon as I fuck up this Buu guy"? Vegeta has intended to kill Goku until very recently. What I see, instead, is an extremely well made bad guy gone good who is fucking barely "good". Good in this context is agreeing not to sabotage U7. At the end of the day, the only way Freeza is coming back to life is if U7 wins. And in all likelihood, isn't good. Will totally destroy planets once he is brought back to life. But the saiyans? He'll pick his battles and just leave that for another day. IMO.
Edit: Said otherwise, I am thinking this is a much better way of doing the whole "bad guy gone good" because he is totally not good and still loves to torture people in much the same way that Vegeta never stopped killing people despite Goku's protest.
Piccolo became good and became Gohan's dad.
Vegeta became good and while not a dad, is more like your uncle that's always hated you but also loves you because you are family.
Freeza is just a guy who is now in a position where it makes more sense to kill someone else rather than you. that's fucking sweet.
|
No, I really don't see that "gone good" vibe in Freeza. Vegeta changed, he's just more blatant about doing the Saiyan shit he wants to do and that Goku always goes along with. Freeza is a murderous psychopath who is just willing to go along for the ride because there is a payoff at the end.
|
Does anyone else have this feeling that female Broly is gonna end up basically completely irrelevant?
|
Dunno. This all basically looks like a clusterfuck waiting for a meaningful resolution.
|
I wonder if it would even be allowed if Freeza tried to like defect at a crucial moment. Would Zen Oh just say "cheater" and erase him? o.O

Yeah, I edited my post. Sorry for the edit:

I think we agree here.

This is what I expect would happen if they had Freeza be an idiot. But I don't think they will make Freeza this stupid. Freeza would need to be dumb in order to think he can scheme his way out of a match with rules and whatnot. And while there are no rules about defecting, that is so clearly against the intent of the tournament. If they (sadly) decide to go this route, where Freeza just keeps trying to be a shitbag, despite the fact that he is in the presence of a being that erases an entire universe just by thinking it, I think Zenoh just says "byebye" and suddenly Freeza ceases to exist anywhere. It would be a tragic end to a great character.
Zenoh strikes me as the type who would rule according to implied rules rather than saying "that's technically not against the rules, so anything goes!"
|
In any case, I somehow believe - and hope - this tournament won't just run to completion. Question is, who are the schemers?
