All of the gods of destruction im assuming from something beerus and whis mentioned was that they were orginally mortal beings who showed promise and thus elevated to the position of GoD, i cant imagine this promotion comes without a increase in power.
I personally think goku is much stronger than beerus mortal form and probably him or vegeta are in line to end the series as GoD.

Don't think there's a god of destruction power boost. Remember, Beerus has been alive a long, long time, according to himself. He was probably weaker in the millions of years before present.

Beerus contracts out work to people like Frieza because he's lazy. Buu was just shit crazy. Broly destroyed a solar system on his own because he's shit crazy. There had to be a couple of times where that happened. Why Beerus didn't step in at those instances, is probably why we're at the bottom of the barrel in universe rankings. Our Kaioshin was sealed (old guy) and the new one is a bit timid.

If you look at the beginning of BotG, Old Kai mentions what happens when Beerus is awake.

Yea Beerus is a lazy bastard. Which is probably right after Whis saw Goku and Vegeta's potential he hinted at them taking over the job.

Whis is loyal to Beerus because he has to be as an angel but I think Whis is definitely looking for a more suitable replacement, one who won't be nearly as lazy. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if end series Vegeta takes up the role as God of Destruction.

My understanding is that Whis has been training GoDs for a long time and our universe is not living its first life. He has seen GoDs come and go many times. Our universe is just as significant as the bagel we eat for breakfast.

Honestly Vegeta and Goku must be up there considering that the universe is so culinarily retrograde that Earth evidently has the best food in the universe. To the point that a head of lettuce is a delicacy.

I think that ultimately, Goku will be chosen over Vegeta to be GoD. Its easy to see the similarities between Vegeta and Beerus, but I think Goku has a much more compatible world-...I mean universe-view. Goku and the angel hierarchy seem to be totally on the same page when it comes to just about everything when you think about it. Goku as a GoD would do a significantly better job at fostering talent.

For some reason, I expect Beerus to die during this arc. I think it is possible Beerus and Kaioshin are punished in place of universe 7 if universe 7 doesn't win. Although I do think universe 7 is just gonna straight up end up winning.

I heard a theory that Uub replaces Beerus because Uub, when merged with Boo, actually does have an indefinite lifespan.

I imagine an indefinite lifespan comes with the job, though. Toppo (appears) to age, yet is a candidate. Goku and Vegeta are candidates too. I don't see what makes Uub a good candidate other than power (leagues below Goku at this point).

None of those really make sense with the ending of DBZ, do they? I mean I guess you could show a scene of Whis & Goku/Vegeta arriving together that wasn't in DBZ, but the God of Destruction coming to Earth for the Martial Arts tournament seems... stupid. And Super is still years away from that point in the timeline.

Why did you remind me this will drag on for years? I mean...how do you top the universe tourney? You've fought the strongest of 8 universes. You go after the other 4?

This won't last more than 2-3 more years if that.

This is what I thought until Krillin had flashbacks of that one dude in one of the later DBZ movies killing him. I think movies are now considered canon..?

That's exactly the problem, the power scaling is just way too stupid at this very moment. The ending of dbz cannot possibly be achieved and be believable i think. Kind of a bummer :/

Also, in BotG, Beerus and Whis didn't know who Buu was. Have they ever seen him or heard of him? In any form?

Also, there is a female Broly. Broly has to be canon then, or they are just gender bending him?

All I see female broly being is just a nod to the fans, thats it. Our Broly exists in the movies and the movies alone.

Also, they can pick and choose whatever movie they like to be canon for only as long as it serves as a plot device. Other then that they aren't really canon. Other franchises do it, why not DBS? The thing with Krillin, it wouldn't be the first time someone fucked up over there.
