I'm totally expecting Buu to show why he's someone to be feared still and is still super fucking powerful. He was as powerful as SSJ3 Goku back in the day (that day being 15yrs ago holy shit...). Got hype af when they showed that smirk across his face, he hasn't had that smile since he was Evil Buu.
|
Buu was cushy and seemingly weak from the start, if you remember. He just managed to slowly but surely reveal his inner menace.
|
I thought the original fat Buu was so strong due to having evil Buu still inside. When he split didn't most of his power go to evil Buu?

He's still very powerful. He put up a good fight against Kid Buu and lasted longer than Goku/Vegeta in terms of stamina. I would say he's at least as strong as a Super Sayain 2, but with his regenerative abilities I would say stronger due to that.
|
And he's a character who would be significantly stronger if he took to training.
|
I wonder if Buu's power has a consistent base threshold or if it degrades over time if he doesn't use it.
Oh and speaking of degrading power I'm still pissed the anime showed Goku getting a scratch from a bullet shot from a regular gun. Even though he was already too strong to get hurt by those when he was still a kid.
|
I thought Goku getting hurt by a bullet and Krillin getting hurt by a bullet insanely dumb. I just pretend it doesn't happen (like Goku saying he doesn't know what a kiss is).

Read the past 3-4 manga releases just now, which all came out while I wasn't paying attention. Some notable differences that preserve continuity:
Goku doesn't meet Zamasu in the main universe. Zamasu finds out about Goku's power from Godtube. Black doesn't travel through the secret wormhole to fight Goku. They meet for the first time in the future. Beerus finds out about Zamasu from hearing that he went after Zuno. Mai doesn't magically wake up. They meet her where she "died" and Trunks feeds her a senzu bean (preserving the "what's a kiss" scene, lol). They explain that Goku and Vegeta no longer have zenkai boost, because they have already consistently pushed their bodies to their limit. Black, on the other hand, still has something of a zenkai effect. But it's more of a matter of adjusting to his new body while having his own "god" abilities. The immortal Future Zamasu has healing abilities too. Fighting stronger opponents gives him more knowledge of the body - he gains SSJ and SSJR in battle against Vegeta. Gowasu mentioned that he was training an apprentice so that he could retire soon. Kaioshin went to the future to confirm the reality of Zamasu doing shit, and Beerus killed him after that. Beerus then chided Gowasu and said he should choose an apprentice for his heart, not his strength. Whis mentions that he isn't allowed to fight, being an angel. A somewhat longer dialogue on "good and evil" between Zamasu and Gowasu. Zamasu talks about how he wishes to use the power he has to fight evil, but Gowasu explains why that isn't his place. They basically seem to have cut out the first time travel. Goku and Vegeta are shipped back to figure out how to Mafuba because immortality is BS and stuff.
Mostly good changes for the sake of continuity, I guess.

zenkai boost?

Zenkai = power up from the brink of death.

Zenkai boost was that Saiyan thing where if you get close to death and then healed, you come out stronger.
It was used heavily in the Frieza saga to the point where Vegeta asked Krillin to blast him so he could heal and get stronger which also showed the stupidity of such an ability (and how overpowered it could get). Pretty sure it was completely dropped after the Frieza saga.

I mean let's be real. Tournament arcs are the most lazy way ever to create tension and set up fights. I hope there is more to it than that

Pretty sure it was completely dropped after the Frieza saga. Pretty sure Cell actually got a Zenkai after he blew himself to bits to try and destroy everyone during the Cell Games. Because when he returned to Earth he was stronger than his Perfect form even though he lost one of the Androids to Gohan and dropped out of his Perfect form before he blew up.
Further highlighting that such an ability is absurd.

I some what remember vegeta vs zarbon??? where vegeta thanked zarbon for beating the shit out of him because it only made him stronger. I always thought it was needed to explain how goku and vegeta could climb so fast up the power ranks, otherwise it would make no sense with just pure training or why sayians were the "warrior race" opposed to some other crappy dino/fish/frog looking races. I much rather the theory of sayians gettings "hurt" and then healing to overcome that, then the current goku who must keep his guard up all the time or a bullet can kill him...

I hope so as well, there was some speculation about how the other zen-oh was constantly messing up the mirrored movements when they raise their hands or w/e, how hes an evil zen-oh or something (but then again the current zen-oh has always been protrayed to just wipe universes out without a whim so...eh) Personally im not sure where they're going to take this tournament arc, if they just played it out goku's universe will win the whole thing everyone is just dead so that doesnt seem likely at all. If they have goku simply speak to zen-oh to rewrite the rule on the loser universe that would just be uninteresting to the point of not even introducing that rule in the first place. Or if goku uses the wish of the super dragon balls to bring all the universes back that zen-oh destroyed...but that would be so lame (but the most likely, we get to see all the fights and everyone lives). I really really like the idea of having goku rebel vs zen-oh with all the other universes (but im also doubtful to where that could lead if zen-oh is that powerful)

A little late to the party, just watched the last episode.
About the "Zen-oh will destroy the losing universes". What if it was a lie from the High Priest ? For proof, there is no zoom on Whis when his father is making that announcement while all the others look shocked. It's also Whis that tells Goku not to go to Zen-oh (so Zen-oh can't deny and/or get a new excellent idea from Goku). As for reasons, well it could be just to give a lesson to Goku about how he should seriously pay attention to the consequences of his actions or it could just be yet another way to put Goku (and probably Vegeta/Gohan) under pressure so that they train even harder.
Thoughts ? :p

Buu certainly looks scary when he's taking things seriously. I wish they would have brought back his DBZ theme back when he was the main opponent to beat because that was a good menacing theme.
|
Loved this episode. So glad Buu won. I was worried they might have nerfed him, but he was pretty awesome.
|
Yeah this episode was amazing. I really enjoyed watching Buu fight and just kick ass haha. Can't wait to see him more in the tournament :D
|
Do you think Beerus let's it slip that he's been training Goku and Vegeta personally and that Goku has achieved God level power?
