Looks like I was right that the body is actually Goku's. Not sure how Zamasu switched minds and bodies with Goku and then has a body of himself... Interesting and weird.

Wouldn't call it filler. More like character development episode.

The nitpicker in me is pissed off by that short SSB Vegeta vs SSR Black Goku fight in which they both de-transformed after the fight. They really should maintain consistency with the manga. I'll just pretend that that one moment didn't happen.

I think it's way too late to be bothered with being consistent with the manga. I mean the conclusion to Goku vs Hit was entirely different between anime and manga.

Mostly I just take the manga to be the canon interpretation of events and rationalize away the anime inconsistency. It usually works. One is most interesting to watch, the other is more internally consistent.

Most of them are only 22-23 minutes.

I didn't mind the episode, but next one should be epic! The preview for the next episode at least makes it look like all 3 will fight together and Vegeta won't get rekt instantly

Just one question, if Goku was dead by illness in that alternate timeline why Zamazu said that he killed Goku after changing bodies?

We already know multiple timelines.

1 - the timeline we followed in the DBZ anime
2 - Trunks' timeline
3 - Cell's timeline

The Dragonball wikia lists even a 4th one though I don't remember that being mentioned. It's not unlikely even more exist.

So Zamasu exchanged bodies...but Zamasu himself is also still there?
Wouldn't an exchange have meant Goku went into Zamasu's body? (a la Ginyu style?)

Zamasu said he then killed him so that would've left his original body (inhabited by Goku) destroyed.
So...then who (or what) is in Zamasu's body?

Keep in mind that the Zamasu in the future stopped Goku Black from killing Goku when he was about to blast him, saying that it was reserved for him. Who's in charge here?

Timeline A: Zamasu uses the Super Dragonballs to switch bodies with Goku, he also kills Gowasu to get access to the time rings

Timeline B: Zamasu kills Gowasu to get access to the time rings, before he can use the Super Dragonballs, he is approached by Black and they ally

Timeline C: Zamasu and Black figure out there is no Beerus in this timeline and take action here

Timeline D: the main timeline

I assume it was something silly like that.

Thank god I found this tread. DBS started slow but the tournament and black goku arch are pretty awesome and can't wait for next episode.

Dragon Ball is too awesome to be bothered by details :p
