What? Haha, I don't understand a single thing you just said.
Haha, let me try again.
A book that is about a pirate who's not in important role in his community. I prefer alternative universe but it doesn't have to be if it's really immersive in itself.
Adventuring would be other nice subject. I love the black tower series by stephen king.
good but man is it long...and memories of ice is longer still t.t
need a little break so starting up:
Be careful about taking a break in the middle of the malazan series. There is already so much information that needs to be retained, taking time off may make you forget a lot. And starting a new book in the series is already intimidating enough. Memories of Ice is many peoples favorite in the series though, so you have that to look forward too
Just finished Ishmael.
An interesting read, but not the most captivating. It is written in a manner similar to plato's style, where the "story" comprises of one individual explaining something to another individual, and the second individual's dialogue consists mostly of "yes, no, or i dont know". Its essentially the author's ideas masquerading as a story.
The author's ideas have merit, but I don't like reading books like where you only get one perspective, and you don't get a chance to make an accurate case for a competing perspective.
Worth reading if you're interested in opinions about the nature of human civilization and its origin. Just don't expect to be very entertained, or read anything groundbreaking.

Potential Spoiler of the happenings in Locke Lamora + Show Spoiler +
The second book of Locke Lamora got some nice pirating in it. The series are not about a pirate but he takes up pirating in the second book. Not really a secret since the cover has got a pirateship and the title hints at it, but thought I'd spoiler it anyways.
I am also looking fictional story about street thug living in huge metropoly. I've been kowloon city books but I haven't find any.

Don't you think it would be appropriate to tell which book it is? Not a lot of people would have guessed that it is actually "The Art of War", unless of course they understand Finish. Especially consindering that the name of the Translator is written in bigger font size than the actual author?

Read them, Sapkowski is just great to read and his Witcher series is one of my favs in whole fantasy genre. I'm not sure how well it can be translated to other languages, but it's definitely worth giving it a try.
Finished Mrs Dalloway. Gosh, that was wonderful. Great great book ! I think I'm reading the equivalent of this in French : The Star Diaries. Very good so far, the seventh voyage is simply hilarious.

Just to back up, a friend of mine said the Polish versions are incredibly good.
Bringing Collingwood's Idea of History (dammit, I will finish it), Robin Hobb's Ship of Magic (my hatred of Kyle is only matched by my hatred of Joffrey), and Umberto Eco's Name of the Rose (I am sure the Latin will befuzzle me numerous times).
I recently got a book: "The Best of H.P. Lovecraft", a collection of ten of his stories. I've got three left and I have really enjoyed them all so far.
Have picked up "The Black Swan" by Nicholas Nassim Taleb, after reading Kahnemann. It's exactly what I need for my life. But I wouldn't recommend the book to anyone French.

His stories are so good but his dialoque is so disappointing. He was a complete social pariah and his writing suffered for it. That being said I still thoroughly enjoy his stories.

Taleb is a total badass, I would highly recommend all of his major books. Can't speak for the Frenchies though, I'd think that many would enjoy him all the same!

I just finished reading Heart of Darkness for the first time since I read it in high school over ten years ago. Man, what an awesome piece of literature. I generally was not a fan of what they spoon-fed me in English class, but this was a big exception then, and I appreciate it even more now. The prose is just so beautiful. I don't think that I have ever read anything that is so well-written. Not bad for an author whose native language isn't English.
