That was one of the first things I thought of too XD

Unfortunately Disney won't even include Pixar films so far, so the chances of Star Wars are slim. Who knows though.

man it's not about canon. I dont know what to say if a StarWars movie doesnt have R2D2, CP3O, Yoda etc in it. It's not the same SW without those iconic characters

The problem with this is that those characters became iconic for reasons beside them just being there in the beginning, they became endearing to us because of the context of the original films which were great movies. Just shoe horning them in like in the prequels does a dis-service to their character.

I like everything Star Wars related so I'm pretty pumped about this. Plus hearing that there might be a 7, 8 and 9 is sick!

Only thing I've ever been pissed off about Star Wars was how the Clone Wars cartoon made General Grievous look like such a badass, and then come Revenge of the Sith he was the complete opposite.

Say what you will about Lucas selling out or that Disney will ruin Star Wars, but I think a bunch of people are overreacting and speaking too soon. First off, Lucas is old. He prolly wants to spend some of that cash before he dies. Not many people can say they're multi-billionaires. At a certain point, people are supposed to retire and live out the rest of their days without having to work. It's unfair for anyone except George Lucas and his family to pass judgment on him selling Lucasfilm. Secondly, what was the last Disney film that you saw? For me, it was "The Hunger Games", which was really really good, and I think I saw "Up" before that, which was also really really good. So just because Disney is buying Lucasfilm and the Star Wars film empire, it doesn't mean the new movies will automatically be bad. And finally, when Lucas came out with the first trilogy he said he dreamed it would be a trilogy of trilogies. He admitted that he would not be making the last trilogy in his lifetime, but this is a way for him to pass it on, and for Star Wars to continue to be passed down to future generations.

Let's be honest. It's better than leaving it with George Lucas still.

The original trilogy will always be there in all its' glory, so no matter what happens there is always that to fall back on. Disney did a good job with the Avengers, so all hope is not completely lost for the new movies to be watchable. The question becomes which of the EU storylines will they opt to go for, or will they attempt to write their own.

The last three episodes were kinda like a really long funeral.

Phantom Menace was Lucas digging a deep grave. Clones was Lucas heaving the corpse of what Star Wars once was into that grave. And Revenge was Lucas shoveling the dirt and covering it all up. The 3D remakes and all the re-releases were just Lucas returning to the cemetery and taking a dump on the tombstone.

Nothing good can come from exhuming this trash.

That being said, I'll probably watch the new movies.

They also have the rights to Marvel, and tbh honest I quite liked some of he Marvel movies that came out during this period (Iron Man and the Avengers were pretty awesome movies IMO).

There were some misses, however. I didn't care for Thor and Captain America. They weren't awful, but they were just bleh.

I think that as long as they get someone more competent than Lucas to write and direct I will be alright with the whole thing.

I dunno, as I grew older I found I could live without the droids. In the prequels I honestly didn't care much for them. I understand they are iconic characters but I don't feel they are absolutely necessary in order for future SW movies to still be SW movies.

Just think about what they could do with it!

We could have films of the Old Republic, with Jedi and Sith in their full power and glory, not the toned down bunch they were after a millenium of peace.

They have the chance to create something truly amazing. I hope they won't go down the road and make idiotic book sequels into a film (darth sidious had several clones and bullshit...)
