Full list of Black people in the Star Wars universe: Lando Calrissian Mace Windu Padmé Amidalas Security Advisor FN-2187 (Remember, books movies and game do not count as canon) He's gotta be related to someone lol He was abducted at birth afterall Edit; I probably should mention I hope he isn't related to Mace or Lando. Also, I wanna put money on a FO Walker attack on a frozen planet not called Hoth but literally exactly the same as Hoth being part of Episode VIII.

I spent over a year waiting for a remake of A New Hope with some small, mostly meaningless character and location changes while being told it was something new and original.

What do you think? Honestly when Poe reunited with Fin that was full of homo hormone right there. Keep his jacket too, because Poe already fell in love with Fin.

Meaningless characters changes`? Troll somewhere else Yes the movie has a lot of things in common ON THE SURFACE with ANH, but if you look just a little bit closer it isn't really 'the same' at all. It was meant to feel similar and yes they overdid it a few times, but it really isn't that bad in the end, you completely hyperbole the shit out of this.

There was a bit too much fanservice and the baseline story is somewhat similar, if they would have done something else than the Deathplanet ![]() The movie isn't perfect, but its really good, at least as good as VI, if not better. My major gripe would be, aside from too much fanservice, that the pacing feels too fast in the second half of the movie. Even most of the humour worked for me, which it rarely does in modern action movies, i actually had to laugh a few times... Can't remember this happening to me in any other recent actionflick. I seriously believe that some people just think of Star Wars and then expect way too much, the OT wasn't perfect by any means. VII is a very enjoyable movie and thats all that one could expect (probably even more if you take the Prequels into account...)

And TFA’s greatest flaw might be that it stays to close to the original in its main plot. But the characters and their place in the world make up for it. And the greatest Storm Trooper ever: http://imgur.com/gallery/DdW3W

Most have seen/read other stories which were new and exciting in the meantime, we have seen pretty much everything which is possible. If you really expect a new movie to be "magical" again then you are bound to be disappointed. It's also quite ironic that most people actually criticize the "new" things, like a new take on the villain with Kylo Ren for example.

And the changed are meaningless. First Order IS the new Empire The Resistance is exactly the same as The Rebel Alliance Luke = Rey .Strong force sensitive on a desert planet abandoned by her parents that ends up in possession of a droid the bad guys are looking for that escapes on the Falcon after getting found by Imperials...I mean First Order. Plagiarism Finn is barely original. A Stormtrooper defect who plays Han Solo's part and rescues the captured rebel Poe, who is playing Leia part of prisoner, from the FO base. More plagiarism. Everything after that save his fight with Ren is pretty good though. Phasma is original. And possibly the second worst stormtrooper in history (Finn, being number one since he defected). WHY DID SHE TURN THE SHIELD OFF TO THE SUPERWEAPON!!!! That's such lazy and stupid writing. I hope they publicly execute her in front of all the Stormtroopers for that betrayal. Incidentally this entire sequence was alot like when the Falcon got captured by the Death Star in the ruins of Aldaraan. Replace the shield with tractor beam and Phasma at gunpoint with Obi Wan and it's the same. Way different result though. Ren = Vader. Except Ren is more of a whiny uncontrollable psycho instead of a terrifying presence to be around. If Ren killed every FO Officer who back talked to him or reported a mission failure he would be a clone of Vader. Thankfully there's alot of hope for this guy being almost as awesome as Vader. Death Star = Starkiller Base. This is more of a RotJ steal since a Rebel strike team had to go to the ground to turn the shield off so X-Wings could kill it. Even more plagiarism. Ren kills Han scene is the Vader and Luke scene from TESB in Cloud City that trades a Lightsaber fight for words and dismemberment for murder. Powerful scene and a key moment in the whole trilogy for sure. I really liked it. And I loved Chewie lashing out and being a total beast afterwards too. The Cantina with the Lightsaber and accompanying battle and the ship they meet Han and Chewie on are the only two sources of pure originality the movie has. And thus, it's best scenes. I'm too lazy to list every similarity because of how many there are. These are the big ones and cover the main plot progression pretty much entirely. The movie isn't that bad. I give it a 6/10. I'm just mad that the story lacks originality. Episodes I through VI are all unique stories that are part of a bigger, connected story. VII is not unique enough to me. I will watch it again but come future star wars movies, my expectations are going to be a hell of alot lower.

It's also quite ironic that most people actually criticize the "new" things, like a new take on the villain with Kylo Ren for example. People forget that the new TFA isn’t just for the people that loved 4-6, but also for the kids growing up today. Star Wars has always been about the heroes journey and rising to the challenge of an era. Those major themes are not going to change. The difference is that we are seeing news views on characters, such as a deeply conflicted villain and a hero turns away from evil.

At no point did the film give you a nudge and say “Hey, remember this? Huh? Remember?” You've got to be kidding me. The fan service was "minimal"? Not only did the entire plot feel like a fanfiction re-hash of ANH, but we literally got OT memorabilia shoved in our faces several times. Among the less noticeable ones: when Finn is going through various objects after Rey asks him for a tool to fix the gas leak in the Falcon -- he presents her with the automated ball that Luke used to first train with the lightsaber on his first trip on the Falcon. There's also GNK power droid in the background when Rey is selling her scavenged parts early in the movie, we see Nien Nunb return as a pilot, the line "we think they may be splitting up" is spoken by a storm trooper in the stark killer base... Among more noticeable ones, what about the game of dejarik that suddenly appeared on the table? We even got a close-up shot of the pieces on the board. Is that supposed to be what minimal fan service looks like? What about the trash compactor, the new Cantina with an alien band, the "12 parsecs" reference, the trench run, "I've got a bad feeling about this", the alien poking his head through the sand looking at BB-8 very early in the movie, the two stormtroopers inside the star killer based discussing the new BT-17s instead of ANH's BT-16s...? Most of them did not bother me and some were even entertaining, but let's not pretend there was minimal fan service in this movie.

What Oo I dont think you entirely know what your saying. Ofcourse only a fan will recognise fan service.. thats the whole point... And yes it was incredibly obvious. Heck the random trench scene for the Totally Not Deathstar was almost a scene by scene re-render of the original. They couldn't have made it more obvious with a neon sign.
