I would join to improve my seeding but I'm not allowed to, so I'll just watch with popcorn. Best of luck competitors, looking forward to enjoy Special Bio (Biodrey? Bio Endrey?)
Arrived at the convention center. Line for registration was not long at all. Autographs cost $30 each for the top guys, $20 for the rest. My wallet is sad, but who said being a brony is cheap?
Hey guys, First time poster, long time fan... A little about myself, I'm 25 years old, and have been married almost a year. My wife seems to think that me watching ponies is really weird and I'm just wondering how you guys deal with that? Honestly, I started watching the show because I saw this thread and was curious. I keep watching because it is awesome, but I have a hard time defining exactly what it is that I like about the show... My wife even wrote a blog post about how weird she thinks it is (http://dbudge.blogspot.com/2012/05/my-little-bro-ny.html)
Do you guys have any tips for getting friends and family to understand the pony appeal?
Well, my 11 year old brother (I'm 14) started liking it because he saw it a lot. He relates to Rainbow Dash, so that made it easier, but just getting them to watch a few episodes and showing them the amount of dedication in the online community should help a ton.
I just read the Blog. First of all you wife is awesome for knowing what the legacy of tassadar is. Especially on TL.net, there are a lot of people who got into MLP by just seeing this thread here on TL. Well, I did Some reasons why I like MLP so much are, that MLP is not Anime - I just dont like em. Nothing against those who do. Just not my deal. The thing about MLP I like the most is, that those are not some Power Rangers, no Mutated Biker Mice from Mars, no Cow and Chicken, not some Animaniacs. Just some cool relaxed Ponys still trying to understand life, making mistakes and learning from them. It's an honest show with honest characters and they don't pretend to be otherwise. In some ways MLP:FIM reminds me of the The Simpsons. When I was a child I just liked them like any other cartoon I watched. Today I like them for all the (mature) jokes and the characters themselfes. I've never seen a bad word in this thread (beside from the haters of course - still they are beeing dealt with quite swiftly + Show Spoiler +
), on the IRC or when we ran our BronyCraft Tournaments. It doesn't matter if you are stupid, smart, skinny or fat, black or white. You are just accepted as a fan or respected for your opinion.
I like nice people, so I like this Sub-Community, so like them Ponys.
I am 28, have my own Company and have the best Job in the World. I'm working in eSports fulltime. I have somewhat 'normal' life and MLP is just a (small) part of it. It took me a couple of episodes to really start liking MLP:FIM.

Not really; I haven't yet dealt with someone in my life who's been averse to the show. My family and friends are pretty cool, so most of them are either into it themselves, or at least understand it. And if they don't, they just shake their heads and give me pony swag as gifts anyway.
I usually just approached the subject with excitement, recommending it to people with a straight face in a manner no different than if I were recommending Sherlock, Dexter, House, Scrubs, what-have-you -- as a good and fun show. The incredulity only lasts a few minutes in my presence. I think they're used to me by now. =)

Looks amazing. And someone is going to be quite pleased to see these. *cough* Dub *cough*
AAAAAAAAA HNNNNNNGGGG. It's all too much.... I'm sure now that Saur is trying to kill me. I'm also sure he's going to succeed. Alternate hairstyles have always been awesome, but alternate spa pony hairstyles? Oy.
Since I might be dying any day now, I just want you all to know that you're awesome and no you can't have my ponyshirts. That is all.
My neighbour just came by with his daughter, asking for some assistance (basically wanted to print out some form). The girl's around 10-12 as far as I recall - pre-teen in any case - and I generally don't like her much, since she's spoiled and begs a lot for attention. Upon seeing the Mane 6 on top of my PC, she asked "how come I have ponies". I explained simply that I like the cartoon. Then, to my surprise, she started recounting the names - English names, no less - of the cast. She remembered pretty much all of them, though not immediately - and even mentioned Princess Celestia (hearing "Księżniczka Celestia" in Polish felt strange!) Yup - she watched the whole thing, apparently, or at least most of it, from what I understood. Quite unexpected. And she's almost from the target audience as well!
I would've gifted her a pony of choice, but I can't really replace them unless McDonalds does another promo :/

D'aww how cute
My little sister loves to talk ponies with me (She is 10 so also in the target audience I suppose!) she really loves all the characters and I think they mean alot to her really.
By this point she knows almost all of the community names for the background ponies, though funnily enough these community names are all becoming canon as time goes on
