No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is.
Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers. |

(Most movies have a smaller primary cast, and movies are much longer than one episode.) The first four episodes are the most natural introduction, but a lot of people aren't willing to watch that much material. Party of One is suggested as the balls-to-the-wall strongest conversion episode, if you can make sure the viewer sees it all the way through. But it always depends on the viewer. Hound? Woah, didn't knew that. thx for the heads up.

The art (eg. big shiny eyes), ponies, the pony names,... it is quite interesting and enjoyable if you overcome those superficial things. I am quite interested if you guys can openly talk about MLP with your friends irl & inet. It just feels so awkward. Also this series is for little girls? i doubt that little girls will get most of the jokes I have over dinner and they laughed at me haha. Granted I wasn't being overly serious.
Friend: So what have you been up to? Me: You know, I've been watching My Little Pony *big smiles* Fs: *Trying not to laugh* @ me Me: You think I'm joking? It's reaaaaally good! F: What's it about? Me: Well, it's about ponies and friendship and magic and dresses and songs and unicorns!
I think it works along the same lines as a good joke; it's fantastic unless someone has to explain the joke to you.

Fluttershy's rendition of "Evil Enchantress" was one of the funniest things I've seen on this show so far, haha. It was a very Hey Arnold-esque moment.

I actually tried and watched the first 2 episodes but i really don't get it. It has extremely well done graphics but other than that dunno whats so 'intelligent' or 'refreshing' (lol) about the storyline , its has the stereotypical kid's evil vs good show plot. Don't get me wrong i actually want to like the show but I don't find anything special about it. I envy you guys heh

As has been said, time and time again, the pilot is not representative of the show. Either way, thanks for the feedback. At least you tried.

While I do advocate watching the show from start to finish in order for the best effect, it would not be fair to judge the show on the merits of the first 2 episodes. They are admittedly some of the weakest episodes in the season, and are filled with rather straightforward exposition and character introductions.
Others have pointed out episodes that are better representative of the show's charm, like (7) Dragonshy, (9) Bridle Gossip, or (25) Party of One.

SEASON 2!!!! oh wow i actually have goosebumps! but now i fell less manly so i gotta compensate, while i am waiting for season 2 im going to hang sheet rock around an engine im reconstructing. i hope MLP will stay as good even tho faust has taken a back seat in the production of it (she still has some power IIRC )

Also, here's my Brony report for this week:
- Easily converted one of my pliable friends to the herd, just had to insist that he give the show a chance, and then work more and more pony references into my everyday speech.
- Had less success with my more stalwart friends who refuse to touch the show and are incredulous at my recommendation. They'll come over yet.
- Got another friend to watch the show, using Google+'s Hangout feature which is perfect for introducing this show. Only got 2 episodes out of him but he seems to be taking a liking to the ponies.

I skipped the first episode and took my friend straight to episode 25. He is now completely hooked. BRONIES, MY QUOTA IS MET!

She is a baby version of celestia, the big white one in the banner pic. The mane character is a different pony who is purple.

Heh, I dont know if maybe I'm the only one who does this but sometimes I misread things by accidentally combing some words with words below/above them. Just now I was looking at the side bar and this thread was right below the "Portal:No Escape" thread and I accidentally mashed them together.
The result was "My Little Pony: No Escape" which seemed oddly appropriate. =)

I do that kind of stuff all the time.

I would comment on how I personally feel about the premise of this show... but you really aren't allowed to express your opinions about this show here unless you love little ponies...
I am just curious why people are making such a big deal about this show? There has got to be some kind of trolling from which this craze originated from. I mean why do so many people apparently go out of their way to promote this show in a blatant attention seeking manner? There is probably someone who started this whole thing by being a troll laughing so hard right now that people are into this.
And if not, then I seriously have to question and worry about the future of the human civilization. Peoples standards of what they think is high quality art/music/entertainment has been in rapid decline. At least this show seems to be cute and harmless. It is at least not detrimental to society promoting irresponsible or violent behavior. If you want to watch a show like this just to feel happy because its so lighthearted there's really nothing wrong with that.
It is just a little troublesome and disturbing to me to witness the general decline in the quality of contemporary art, music in particular. Combined with the seemingly irreversible decline of the United States economy, and a lack of quality education (American test scores are horrible now compared to other countries). The most worrisome thing to me is that most people don't really seem to care or know about what's going on in the world anymore. Everyone is so self absorbed with social media like Facebook, or stupid news articles and reports, that very few people seem to be in touch with reality. And now we have apparently an important demographic of our population (working class males) watching shows about little ponies intended for young girls.
But at the end of the day entertainment is just that... entertainment. It does not need to be important, enlightening, relevant, or even appropriate. So I have no problem if people want to watch this show if they enjoy it. I just hope that peoples interest and ability to consume and create highly intellectual forms of entertainment does not further decline because of stuff like this.

This is factually inaccurate. In fact I have even linked one of the most outstanding posts in this thread in the OP, which criticizes the show pretty harshly. We are more than capable of reasoned discussion, what we dislike is unfounded haterd because its " a show for little girls"
Frankly reading your post I just have to say I don't get it, you say this is dropping the level of art and culture, yet all I've seen MLP:FIM do is bring people together into tight communities and promote creativity. Have you seen the fan art that has been produced? Some of it is truly masterful. Volumes of fan-fics have been produced, some with high levels of literary quality and emotional content. Saying that this community has hindered art or culture or had a negative effect on the creativity of people is downright wrong
My wager? You haven't even watched the show, and are judging its value from having only seen the banner with ponies in it. This is much like the art connoisseurs who decided that video-games cannot be art, when there are truly gripping tales to be told through that medium . Finally your perspective seems to be America-centric. You realize that the MLP:FIM is an international community, right? Saying that this is a symptom of the decline of America shows more than a little ignorance.
It... irks... me that you would come here and so brashly judge, without having first educated yourself.

I watched the episode linked in the OP, not my thing I'll stick with invader zim for my children's show I enjoy. However I have an honest question for everyone who likes it; why is fluttershy the most popular? Her character was actually pretty annoying tbh.
