I would say that the first 20 pages can be a bit heavy, but do persevere as the next chunk is much more light-hearted. Essentially it's a retelling of Season 1 from Overlord Trollestia's POV, but that might be selling it a bit short. It is a long a read but most reviews so far have been favourable. Full disclosure, I did quite a bit of editing and proof reading so I am most probably biased
I'd love to get some feedback from you guys, especially seasoned fanfic readers!

so i was at the bars this weekend and when i was talking to a friend and getting a drink the DJ was spinning California girls by kaity perry when all of the sudden i hear a very familiar voice, Pinkie Pies. so i do a double take to make sure that i wasn't that drunk and it turns out the dude was mixing in equestria girls to the song the whole time. needless to say i had a huge banana grin on my face for the rest of the night lol.

Well... I am... confused. I LOVE IT. Why do I love it? It makes no sense! This is terrible fanon, yet IT IS SO GOOD!
First of all, I love first person stories. Third-person is boring, first-person is awesome. That's my opinion at least. Not that third person actually makes a story bad - See Harry Potter, Dan Brown's books, Past Sins, etc - but I just have this thing about first person stories. Heck, I only kinda liked I Am Number Four because it was first person.
Secondly, the stories are hilarious and creepy at the same time. The concept of a mad, troll, overly ruling Celestia is known, and I despise it a lot. Imprisoning Luna AFTER she was freed from the moon? Even worse. I also dislike the idea that everything was a fake and that the Elements don't even "work" anymore(I am counting that the story is supposed to be pre-S2). Why do I like this so much still?
Maybe all the extra job the writer did. He rewrote a Galla song under the perspective of the Celestia character he created. That's certainly NO easy task. And the side stories that go with the narration - Robin Hood? Crazy cannibal Luna that is so easily overlooked by her sister? God this was quite the read. The details on certain parts, and how he knew he overlooked details, yet it was all Celestia's saying "there is no need to look further" or something alike. I guess that's just good first person writing. Oh and the details at date and times. AND the inner jokes from Celestia. Seriously, this is a gem. And it even followed the season 1 episode line, explaining how did winter->fall worked!
And finally, the end. Ohhhhh the ending. I won't spoil it. But DAT END *insert sunglasses*. Dat ending indeed.
Your friend is a genius man. I really recommend this gem to anyone. Surely, this isn't your everyday sugarcube vision of the show's world, but it surely is enjoyable.
On a thread related note I tuned into Special Endrey's stream of the Gigabyte Starcraft cup this evening since I saw his name in this thread a few times, it was very enjoyable casting! I recommend it (this zounds endorsement is done free of charge! :p)

Also, Flutterthing.
lol I'm glad you enjoyed it I think he'll be very happy after reading your review too.
The entire fic was written before season 2 came out so the whole Elements of Harmony thing kind of went out the window along with his sensibilities (I lol'ed at him). Hopefully he'll be able to address it in the next book.
But yeah I will direct him towards your review, I'm certain he will want to read it Thanks again for the quick read and reply!

Also, if you guys want to listen to some awesome songs, just listen to Celestia Radio! :D http://ponify.me/
gaming just became 20% cooler. Yeah, cheesy as hell, I know
As awesome as that is, I think I'll stick to my youtube playlist. They play some really odd songs on there. I don't quite trust it. >.>
On another note, I've gotten fully into reading fanfics now. Between the factors of episode-deprivation and the good stories posted here, I got pulled right into reading a few. I will NEVER read the freaky ones though...
I feel like a post in this thread is naked without an awesome picture, there are just so many! Have some Fluttershy-looking-all-heavenlyish! + Show Spoiler +
That was GLORIOUS! I'm convinced that there is nothing cooler in the entire world than Rainbow Dash with sweet shades.
Also, if you haven't seen the videos like F*cking Cupcakes, you should check them out. I understand that some might think they're stupid, but I laugh out loud every time I watch one. :D
I just finished watching MLP:FiM to see what all the fuss was about.
It's a good show with flaws that tend to plague any show (my main gripe is the enforcement of gender roles... they're just reversed?). What I don't get is the rabid following. I want to blame internet memes for this show's over-the-top popularity. Yeah, it's cute. I appreciate cute. Yeah, it has a nice animation style. I appreciate that cartoons haven't seemingly bothered to put much effort into that for a long time. Yes, it has a good primary message about friendship even though it reinforces some negative ideas about other things.
Overall, I still find it disturbing to see what the internet following of this show has done with it. The majority of user-created content doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the show. The video above on this page, the comics, the fanfictions, the pony porn, there's even a fighting game in the works... really?
I watched the show. I even found parts of it quite amazing and well put together such as the musical scores and the sonic rainboom. I still find it mildly unsettling how it's being appropriated for more "adult" tastes... which just reinforces my idea that most of the popularity of this show is due to internet meme hipster mentality.
