But... (Fluttershy rant engage) The voice acting is horrible, the lips aren't synched, Celestia doesn't say anything meaningful to Luna, the song is weird(to not say bad), the animation stutters/bugs especially with Luna. I hate doing this, but the show made me too critic to animations, especially animations that try to follow the show's animation! Even if it is Fanmade, I just can't like it  | ||

I'm not too surprised to see that Luna fanart is going haywire. It'll probably be this way for quite a while (with a brief break when episode 3 is out). I wonder what would happen if DJ PON3 made another appearance in the Luna episode as well... | ||

Some of the fan art over the past couple pages has really creeped me out. I mean, well, I just saw the Princess Molestia link and how is that NOT going to creep somebody out, right?, but... it's more than just that. This obsession with Luna, a character who we saw for about five seconds at the end of one episode... so many pictures... ...then again, I started a fanfic. It's like... I'm confused (and slightly repulsed) by the magnitude of the fan made content out there... and yet I'll be a contributor before long. I feel confused. Must Starcraft for a while. | ||

Some of it, such as french maid outfit + pony is kind of "uhhhhhhhhhhhh"-inducing, but most fanart isn't like that. Best off to ignore it, get bonerest weird, or whatever (or both?) and focus on the normal fanart. Speaking of obsessions with characters with little screentime, DJ PON3 is the perfect example of this. 5 seconds of screentime, insane popularity, hence my theory that the world would explode if she made a cameo in the Luna episode. | ||

How about the fact that certain ponies have names and personalities and they never even had a real appearance? Lyra - Cyan pony with a lyre as a cutiemark. Crazy, wants to become human because she was sitting like one once. Best friends with Bon Bon, because she was just near her. Bon Bon - has a candy as a cutiemark, blue/pink haired. No idea about her personality, but is best friends with Lyra. Octavia - Earth Pony that plays the violin at the Galla. Said to have a repulsion for non-classical music, hides most of its emotions in order to show superiority(I think the name for this is Kuudere). Friends of DJ PON3 since fillyhood(?!?!?!?) DJ PON3 - Everyone knows her, with glasses and all. Despite never showing her eyes, is rumoured to have red eyes. Hyperactive and funny, the complete opposite of Octavia, is her friend since fillyhood. Dr Whooves - Time traveler, british accent, the ponified version of Dr Who. Or that's what most people say about him, at least. You know, he has a Hourglass as a cutiemark, Hourglass means time therefore timetraveling. Derpy Hooves - Derp! Muffins!(for saying it ONCE, when seeing muffins). Also a mother of an unicorn, Dinky Doo. Often called Ditzy Doo as well. and etc etc etc this all is a consequence of the lack of real content: 20 minutes per week of something so good is BOUND to generate a lot of stuff, and the more is generated, the more this stuff becomes weird. Also, Luna is so "famous" because a) she is CUUUTE and b) everyone loves night and c) poor thing was trapped for ONE THOUSAND YEARS, she deserves some love! | ||

It might be that you're underestimating just how much there is of anything. There's tremendous creative energy behind the fandom, and the four-month summer hiatus didn't exactly help it move on from what we did have. Besides, much of what you're picking up as "obsession with Luna" quite simply stems from the latest S2 news (which always draw a lot of short-term attention). | ||

Quite honestly, if I had a time machine I would use it for nothing but pony-relating adventures. I'd just skip forward a week at a time and watch every episode in an epic marathon until the end of time. (Because the show will OBVIOUSLY never stop. I'll be watching ponies when I'm 90 if I can't get my hands on that time machine.) I think part of the reason that background characters have become so prolific (is that the right word?) is because there are more options for creativity. Sure, there are plenty of wacky fan-things involving the mane 6, but none of it is really ever more than a one-off that gets forgotten. With characters like Octavia, the community has the opportunity to basically build her backstory and personality from the ground up and have it stick. And we all know the community has ridiculous amounts of creativity... they need an outlet! | ||
