I really did enjoy it, and I'd watch another similar one as long as it isn't a historical drama (don't like them). Also, idols wouldn't be a necessity. I mean I was happy to see Hyomin there but I could have done without her; the chemistry between the main actors was what carried the show. MGIAG was written by the famous Hong sisters. Thus, you can expect a lot of similar elements, writing-wise, in some of their other dramas. They are well-known for writing funny, zany dramas with a very strong leading couple that makes you root for them. MGIAG is also my favorite drama by the Hong sisters, so well met, fellow MGIAG fan. :-) Apart from MGIAG, they have written Fantasy Couple, Delightful Girl Choon-hyang, You're Beautiful, Best Love, My Girl, and Hong Gil Dong. A short synopsis of each is here. I can recommend all 5, but You're Beautiful and My Girl are probably their two most well-known apart from their debut, Choong-hyang.

What the whole incident has brought to my attention is that they film the season as it's being aired, which seems really weird to me. She leaves for a couple days and they don't have an episode? What if something else were to happen? Why not film the whole season in advance, much as you would a movie, and then release it? Would solve a lot of the "this schedule is ridiculous" problem that she claims to have and they wouldn't have such a small margin of error in terms of release schedules.

KDrama filming schedules are intensely packed. They want to push out a drama as soon as possible to take advantage of seasonal demand or current trends. Also, it'll be really weird if an actor or actress is starring in two different dramas that are airing at the same time, which might happen if they delay the release date.

I recommend this article. It pretty much explains everything from the conditions of live-shooting, to why it's currently preferred by broadcast stations, to the obstacles that come with the alternatives. :-)

Lots of dramas such as city hunter only started filming a few months ago but the difference between other dramas and kr drama is that im sure the scripting is done really late for kdrama. The plots are always bad and there is never any charachter development. You watch a kdrama then you watch the best produced kdrama (iris) then you watch game of thrones and they are each worlds apart in production values and budget.

The plots are always bad and there is never any charachter development. You watch a kdrama then you watch the best produced kdrama (iris) then you watch game of thrones and they are each worlds apart in production values and budget. It is a different kind of TV. Personally, I watch way more KDramas than American TV shows; not because American ones aren't better on the whole, objectively speaking, but because KDramas are simply more to my taste, generally. The thing with KDramas is that most of them are rather unapologetically aimed at females, and middle-aged ones at that. Hence why there are a lot of story lines that (generally speaking) appeal more to women than men -- such as romance, love triangles, grand romantic declarations, marriage, women's ages and beauty, character-driven stories etc. That said, KDramas have, to my knowledge, pretty much the second-best production values in the world after US/Canadian productions -- certainly with higher production costs/budgets etc. than anything I've seen come out of Europe or even Japan. And KDramas are probably the better place to look if you want good, chaste romantic comedies and melodramas in a TV-series format. Understandably, though, romance is not everyone's thing. The good news is that there are the occasional KDramas who do not focus on romance, are plot-driven and well-told, it's just that they tend not to be the most famous ones. While Iris does have one of the highest production values ever, it is far from being the KDrama with the best story line I've ever seen. A few KDramas I've seen that were well-told, well-produced, didn't focus on romance, and had an intelligent plot are: 1. Story of a Man ![]() This one is an action drama with little romance aimed at men with fantastic character development. It has a character with high-functioning autism, a fantastic villain with a siscon complex, stock-trading drama, and a plot that is much better written than Iris's. The writer behind Story of a Man is one of the most respected in the industry. 2. The Devil ![]() This one's dark crime/supernatural drama with NO romance -- probably the only KDrama I've seen with pretty much none. It has a very dark and complex plot, with many references to literature, art, and the supernatural. 3. Lasty, there's Evasive Inquiry Agency ![]() This last one is a wacky comedy about a bunch of misfits who stumble upon a treasure map and set out to look for the gold -- stupid at first, with a brilliant plot later, and romance in the background. Wacky, zany, plot-driven fun, which stars a quacky fortune teller, a taekwondo instructor, a manga-shop owner and a mysterious girl that collapsed on the roof top as the four main leads who embark on a crazy hunt for the hidden gold.

-Quite good, can reccommend it to anyone. -Female lead looks like PJY from T-ara! -No obnoxious Secret Garden-esque crying. -Lots of action, keeps you entertained. -The ending... maybe I'm an anarchist, but I hated the ending. I was cheering for the bad guys at the end because the good guys seem to have an invulnerable plot shield. And the very last surprise at the end... what? I still reccommend it, but the ending (much like City Hunter) in my opinion, disappointed.

+ Show Spoiler ['49 Days' finale plot] + The part about In Jung's tears is so forced, especially the scene at the hospital where she wanted to remove Ji Hyun's respirator. The whole time I was just confused and face-palming at whattheheck was happening. I believe that they had originally planned Yi Kyung and Ji Hyun to be sisters (with all the hints about them being so similar), but they went absolutely no where with that plot "twist". This episode spoiled an otherwise excellent drama. + Show Spoiler ['City Hunter' ending] + That final scene. Are you kidding me? Nana and Yunsong stare into each other's eyes, and THATS IT? It was such a promising relationship, developing nicely around the middle episodes. Then towards the ending, we practically don't see any of Nana together with Yunsong, after all that character development and relationship building. Totally leaves you unsatisfied, like some striptease that has the ending cut off. Let's start DISCUSSING dramas, not just listing them. Honestly, unless you are writing a decent review, no one cares about the dramas you've watched before. With enough people watching at least the popular dramas, I'm sure we can get a discussion going.
