Also a thing is kind of bothering me, i had that feel since i heard Korean language from the voices of SC2, but this impresion has been confirmed by watching the drama.
So, i have the feeling that 90% of Korean sentences ends with "Samida", it's always like "blablabla-samida", is this some kind of common verb in Korean(to be/have?).
Samida means thank you basically.

What you're hearing is "습니다" (seub-nee-dah at the end of a statement). It's used when speaking to a stranger or older person politely/respectfully. The "samida" you're hearing is probably from "감사합니다" (gahm-sah-hahm-nee-dah) which a polite way of saying thank you.

I haven't seen much love for Operation Proposal around here, besides the odd nod of approval, but it finished quite recently too and was top notch.
The criticism I hear about Operation Proposal is that it's twice as long as the Japanese version but you don't get anything more out of it in all that time. Plus the Japanese version has Yamashita Tomohisa. And there's a special on top of that that people liked.
Gentleman's Dignity looks pretty good, but I don't know if I want to invest that much time into a drama after mainlining Rooftop and Feast concurrently.

It's just a honorific ending. Yo, nida, and finally mika as it goes up the levels of formality, with shi (and it's conjugated forms) thrown in where appropriate.
If you listen to Kpop, you will hear in songs not in casual speech lots of yo yo yo. Sounds a lot like Dr Dre in his formative years once your ears attune to it.
Never saw the Japanese version, Eddie, so can't comment on that, but I thought the Korean remake was quality. Just googled the name you linked and he's the spitting image of that chap from ss501 who was in boys over flowers. Kim Hyun-Joong.

Anyone tell me why in any given year there are dozens of new original drama lines that last for a single season, as opposed to US style shows which last for loads? And why is it that these modern Korean 1 hour long episodes with a 20 episode season have such low original or creative quality, character development and immersive pull compared to say, Firefly, which was made 10 years ago, has fewer episodes and less episode length?

Um, you want to compare korean dramas to Firefly? That's pretty high standards right there, not many tv shows anywhere in the world that can surpass it. There are definitely korean dramas that are of similar quality/originality, such as Joseon X-Files, but don't act like Firefly is indicative of western shows when the only show that compares is Arrested Development.
What korean dramas have you seen?
And how does age have anything to do with writing quality/originality? Are you here to just bash Korean dramas or are you genuinely curious?

you should check out Damo, its pretty old and looks cheesy like hell to a modern audience but it was one of the first korean dramas to leave the peninsula. its 14 episodes and one of the most amazing stories ever told. here is a spoiler free review

Eh, now that you mentioned Firefly I don't feel like watching any korean dramas...

If you want writing on par with/better than firefly stick to korean movies. Korean dramas are awesome because of their warmth and familiarity, for me at least. Let's not forget that a huge part of their audience is older korean women.
|
Doesn't firefly have a massive cult following despite bombing in ratings and being cancelled? Hardly a typical western series for comparison. The majority of Kdrama is formulaic because they are churning these things out in real time besides maybe a synopsis and pilot. Of course there are exceptions, but they are few and far between.
Korea also has pretty tight regulation on what can and can't be shown on tv, so grittier stuff is out of the window, not even worth pitching it. Melodrama/romcom fusion is the dish of the day.

I loved "Love Rain" I wish they had like a 2nd season or something

The new drama "Big" starring Lee Min Jung and Suzy airs today, along with Coffee Prince's han kyul. I am hoping this will be one of the best dramas of the year, now only need to navigate around the inevitable kiss scenes

Just wanted to let you guys know that Im still mad about the fashion king ending haah^^ but I've been bored and read some comments on different sites what People thought about it and found many comments how it's an open ending with a possible part 2. So I've been thinking if there are ACTUALLY any dramas with Part2,3 and the only one that came to my mind was High Kick but I didnt watch it. So are there other dramas that got Sequels which makes such assumptions not too far fetched?
Also gonna check out out BIG later and even if the first 1-5 episodes suck I'll probably stick around till the end lol just like with Fashion king to get my weekly Lee Min Jung <3 and Suzy <3 Dosis just like with Shin Se Kyung.

Watching Big now, had to pause and say I missed Min Jung's silly voice! So damn fine.
|
Can't wait for more Gentleman's dignity! shows pretty good so far :D
Gonna watch Love rain for now while I wait.

Alright I'm downloading RTP, Ghost 1-2 and DrJin 1-4. Let's see if they are any good

I think I'm going to make the official executive decision that Lee Min Jung>Shin Min Ah. I have just recently come to this conclusion while watching Smile, You.
