Everything he sees should affect him in some level, it's not out of this world to expect that working with the HBO crew may have given him diferent ideas. Just because he said he won't do anything to please or displease fans specifically doesn't mean that the show will not affect his writing in any way. Those kind of comments are more in line with him giving more chapters to fan favorites, avoiding killing a favorite character (or the opposite) or changing his mind about a plot twist if people see it coming. He also said a million times that the show wont affect his writing in any way. With the small exception of Osha, who might get a little more attention because of the way she was portrayed by her actress. Also the basic plot is long decided.

Hell even in the book I was super pumped about this character and liked him a lot so his death was very upsetting to say the least. Still in retrospect it did make sense cause Oberyn has pretty much no character arc and development. He was introduced in the book with the sole purpose to get his vendetta and die. by now i think if oberyn does get a lot of screen time, people will say "his going to die" without question rofl

If LF gets steamrolled as he seems likely to be anyway. Otherwise I still like LF most for the throne. If they cut Oberyn then they cut Dorne, and if they cut Dorne then why include the other large yet less important tangential plotline of the Iron Islands, and if they cut those then books 4 and 5 are only a season of content combined. The story gets worse and they lose all hope of staying behind Martin. Cutting Oberyn would be the first domino in a very bad chain of changes. They've already implied that they plan to combine books 4 and 5 in one season, so that the entire series only runs 7 seasons.

If we actually see Bronn duel Ser Balman in the show, as opposed to it just being gossip, that could be a clue that there is more of his story to come, perhaps in both mediums. It is weird how his character just kind of falls off the map, you get that one piece of gossip and that's it. Well Bronn feels like one of those characters that would be ruined by a POV, and we haven't had a legitimate POV in KL that gave a damn about Bronn in ages. In Feast/Dance we had Cersei until she was jailed and one or two chapters during her jail time, Jaime who couldn't give two fucks about Tyrions Sellsword, and Kevan who is more worried about the Tyrells than some upjumped sellsword that Cersei paid off.

Also, this third book is divided into 2 seasons so I am guessing the Purple wedding won't be in the next episode, which is the season finale. There are still a lot more exciting things (death of Tywin, Lysa for a start) to come other than Joffrey... In fact, I think next season will be even more exciting than the present!

Back when I was reading I was kind of forming an image of Oberyn in my head and I was just like: "yeah you're that guy from Deuce Bigalow!" they must get him!

"Jaime sends his regards" to the "lannisters send their regards" pisses me off as well. its such a fucking cop out. i mean, i get what they're trying to do, they don't want to put Jaime in a bad light, because they've been trying to have him win viewers over. but it pisses me off that viewers have to be coddled like that. what makes so much of asoiaf great is that characters you like, do bad things to eachother. making it hard to pick sides. i'm going to do a bad just expressing this in words. but i hate, how in the show, every important lannister has a face, but at the SAME TIME they try and make "the lannisters" a faceless evil. you always hear bad things about "the lannisters" but it seems the show writers never want to point a finger at an actual lannister except joffrey. so "we can't have JAIME lannister send his regards, because we want viewers to like him. so we'll just have 'the lannisters' send their regards, so the viewers can be angry at no one in particular." it feels like cheap

Funny how so many people think the same way. I have a feeling GRRM created the character with Oded in mind..

I think the show portrays Cersei as a huge bitch pretty well. I will get pissed when the show will try to turn her to a likable character after season 5 (book 4 and 5). There seems to be readers that have sympathy for her, but one thing I know is I never will.

first off, people need to stop thinking that the show panders to readers, because it doesn't. with that in mind, very few non-readers would've picked up on the connection of jaime saying that to roose 1-2 episodes ago. and the show have been pitching the redemption angle for jaime. plus jaime didn't even have a hand (in b4 old joke) in planning the RW. using "lannisters send their regards" is fine and is a really nitpicky thing on the execution of the RW scene.

It's pretty amazing how powerful this series is, despite reading the books years ago the episode still had an impact on me. This song was the first thing on my mind when I woke up today.

I really don't see the problem with him saying that, given that they had set it up two episodes before.

Man I would shit my pants if that played at some random wedding.
