Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

+ Show Spoiler +After what happened at the prison, I'm not surprise since the group just wants a place that is safer than wandering around in the woods

Same here. + Show Spoiler +I knew she was gonna pussy out. Hopefully Tyrese see's right through him and kills him.

Words cannot describe the rage I felt when Andrea backed away from killing the Governor.

there was no chance of andrea doing that from the second it was brought up, even though carol suggesting it gives her some more points in my book. the worst part was the fucking singing going on in the end scene while andrea gets up (yeah, put your clothes back on, thanks) and goes through the necessary conflict ending with the necessary resumption of fuckbuddy status. thanks for wasting more of my time, TWD.
so, this is the worst episode of the season, right? it can't get worse.

Feels like the writers have no clue what to do after being told that they had to do 16 episodes. They put all their eggs in one basket for the first half of the season.
"Shit, shit, we're running out of ideas. Quick, to the comic books!"
+ Show Spoiler [Next Episode+Comic Spoilers] +"Let's spend a whole episode on bringing back Morgan!"

Next episode thoughts:
+ Show Spoiler +They are gonna introduce more people? REALLY? Come on.....

I think my biggest complaint is the actual dialogue. I barely remember what the characters say to each other half the time. Nothing sticks out as cool, awesome , or powerful.

NOT defending Andrea here, but it might be for the best that she didn't kill him. If she had, she would have made him a martyr, and given every single person in Woodbury a personal reason to want to kill the folks in the prison. I think having an inside woman (even one that's annoying and incompetent) will likely be more useful for resolving the conflict in favor of Rick's team when the time comes, than killing the Governor now.

I don't buy this at all, nobody in that town full of vacillators and henchmen has ever been proven competent enough at leadership/warfare to the point where they could reasonably take up against the prison and be anywhere near as big a threat as the governor. this is a town full of people who get inspired by andrea.

I actually really enjoyed this episode. Having Merle back with Rick's group creates an interesting dynamic, and Andrea's face when Michonne told her that the Governor sent Merle to kill her was priceless.
Also I loved the song at the end.

I honestly think Merle is fine. Lots of character development with him trying to reconcile in a kind of Merle-like way, and having err, the old man without the leg >.> bring back some religious stuff was cool. Cringed the entire song though, but you could see how they were trying to portray Rick's group as really batshit insane and cold-hearted, cold-blooded with all the things everyone was saying about them, even though we know they're not (I mean c'mon the girl was singing). It was really conflicting and was kind of like how the comics really shows everyone's gray sides without going over the edge that much.
Acting could definitely be better, but it's good and I like the way people are being portrayed, even in relation to the comics. Can't just have a complete rip off like Game of Thrones, right?

Not sure I buy random teenage Georgia farmer's daughter being a Tom Waits fan, but ok.
|
Man Glenn is starting to get really annoying. I get that he hates Merle's guts, but it makes me cringe whenever he goes off about Merle.
|
Is it good that I don't like a single character in this show...
|
Not quite as good as last episode but still really good. I'm really liking this third season, far more than season two.
edit: I really hope Tyreese doesn't tell the Governor about the hole in the back of the prison....
|
From the previews for next weeks episode, it looks like Morgan is going to make a return. It looks like the guy with the sniper on the tower is going to be Morgan.

I think they're phasing him out.
Watch him not speak for a few episodes, then suddenly get massive character development.
Then die.

the fourth season desperately needs to be rick, carl, tyreese and morgan (if they're bringing him back) out on the road, scavenging and having bro escapades after burying every character in the cast I didn't just name who died in the final showdown. gogo ennui, bleakness and depression arising from dynamic situations out in the environment, showing and not telling, rather than people bitching and whining at each other while remaining in the same place for entire seasons' worth of plot.
edit: does anyone have a contender for an episode of TWD, a specific episode, that was worse than this one? obviously we'd go straight to season two, but I can't think of one that had me angry and incredulous in turns like tonight. definitely none that put such a focus on one of the worst-written characters in any drama I've seen ever.

One where they killed off Dale? I dunno.
