Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book.

I gave the counter-argument that the bacteria in your mouth explanation makes no sense; that you can't have accumulated that much bacteria over the 3 minutes to 8 hours after death. No one has been able to counter-attack this point properly. Instead it's all, "just enjoy the show," or, "we've only seen rotten zombies." Well, this discussion is more entertaining than saying Lori should die, and as for the second point, then it wouldn't make sense if the apocalypse started and the fresh zombies bit people and the people survived. I know what the focus of the series is, thank you very much. I probably follow both, and zombies in general, way more than you, so don't assume I'm don't know how to enjoy the show, thanks. The difference between your two points is that that's a narrative decision. I'm talking about a basis of the show. They can progress the plot to the point where Rick dies. They can't just introduce new versions of the zombies, such as letting them run, without introducing that idea of the zombies. These are ideas that are ingrained in the existence of the show; i.e. part of the consistency of the premises (of the show). I have never expressed an interest except in how Darabont represents his zombies. And to understand how you represent his zombies, you have to explore how his zombies interact with the world. I reject the previous conclusions based on the fact (or idea) that an apocalypse could not have started with such a "weak" zombie". eshlow has a good explanation for the virus because it uses ideas that are certainly provable. 100% lethal bacteria forming between 3 minutes and 8 hours after death? Not so much. I am more intrigued by why the zombie bite is fatal. And eshlow's answer was the kind of response I was hoping to get. And it was an enjoyable read. And it covered more bases than the bacterial explanation. It really doesn't matter to me that Kirkman says that the bite doesn't kill, because it doesn't cover what goes on behind the bite, in particular, why a human bite versus a zombie bite is so much more devastating. I want to say that a zombie bites ferociously since he has no sense of how hard to bite, and that's why the blood loss is a lot more lethal. The resulting infection is handled nicely by the saliva and eshlow's explanation. @the swords not being as effective, they wouldn't be in a "true" apocalypse, but all the scenes we have seen are of more advanced decompositions. Not really any beheadings of recently turned corpses, so the idea that the flesh is very rotten, like the bicycle girl from S1E01, and not-that-optimal-weapons sort of works I guess, but I don't like that point either, in terms of zombie apocalypse consistency. @vegro, zombies don't need food. They have some weird instinct where they just want to eat living flesh. They have unlimited energy, so they don't tire. Those are some of the main "points" of zombies. This is the basis of the science fiction. I'm pretty sure most zombie representations only keeps those two points, plus the idea that dying somehow causes reanimation, in mind. It's debatable whether they have memories right now, but the thing in S1E01 kind of says they have a really limited memory, but nothing that could, change the plot, I guess. The flesh the zombie eats just fills up the stomach. I believe there was something somewhere in other fictions where they said when a zombie without a stomach eats (i.e. a hole in the stomach), the food just falls out. I guess we can use that since it makes sense and doesn't seem to counteract anything else we've seen. alright so this discussion is hilariously stupid. First, you can die from a scratch, not just a bite soo... there goes all of your theories. Second, it is an unrealistic show. Would you really want to wait weeks for every character to die from a bite? I mean it's kinda sad that I have to actually type this but ok

Maybe as a way to make the losses of his family easier. He is a pretty messed up dude from what I've seen.

But why kill the pilot? he could have just told him they were dead. And whats up with the fish tanks with heads in them... obviously a sick dude. What i don't understand is when the helicopter pilot is laying on the bed half dead why he looked like william shatner so much?!

And did they shoot the helicopter down in the beginning of the episode? It sounded like they took two shots to hit the engine and caused it to crash. lol.... Either way, boring episode. They're not gonna let them leave that freely and when they do he'll get aggressive. The preview for next episode looks great. Anything would be better than this one. Watching town folks walk in circles.

EDIT: What kind of stupid community poll is that? Who would you rather have as a leader in the zombie apocalypse?
I predict 100% Daryl votes.
