Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

They already casted the Governor

Sarah Wayne Callies has the unfortunate position of not being a very good actress (imo) and having the writers feeding her horrible shit episode after episode. I didn't think the interactions between her and Carol played very well at all. She was aiming at hysteria but came up way short of her mark in my eyes. Luckily for the writers and her the overall chaos of the overrunning of the farm made that forgettable for most I'm sure. The bullshit about her getting distant after Rick told her how Shane died ... fucking stupid beyond all recognition. I can see her being upset that Carl had to shoot Shane, but her anger at Rick felt so totally misplaced and literally unbelievable.
Carl is one of the most important characters as far as I'm concerned because of his connection with Rick. Every interaction between them hinges on the kid being compelling but he's just not any good, and the emotional moments fall flat every time. It's really a shame.
Overall the episode was great for the first 30 minutes or so because of the unrelenting chaos that enveloped the farm. Finally something spontaneous and fucked up and anything but the picturesque but fantastically boring monotony of the normal every day happenings on the farm. We've had our brief moments of testosterone-driven fist and gun fights but finally we can say goodbye to the farm and hello to the prison.
The last 20 minutes or so were really pretty lame and without any real payoff I thought. I was expecting Rick to let go and unleash his + Show Spoiler [Comic Spoilers] +"WE ARE THE WALKING DEAD" speech like I'm sure many others were. And in its place we got a completely lack-luster delivery of the same information. His little "this is no longer a democracy" bit just didn't have the impact that is expected of a season-ending monologue. They didn't have some emotion-inducing musical outro either. It was all very ... "that was it?" for me. No emotional pay-off. It was good to see a different side of Rick but I felt nothing profound, nothing that made me go wow that was a great way to end a chaotic and suspenseful finale. They started with a bang and went out with a whimper, and while disappointing, knowing the dismal level of talent the writers have displayed over the course of the season it shouldn't have come as a surprise I suppose.
Blood was spilled ... we got to feel vulnerable again, and we finally have Michonne (FUCK YEAH MICHONNE). A decent finale but not exceptional in my opinion.

Lets just say it gets way way way way way way better.

Btw David Morrissey was cast as the Governor. Now is as good a time as any - what do you Brits think of the guy? Good? Bad? You think he's up to the task?

Maybe not, but it does make me extremely excited about the next season. Some crazy shit seems to be on the horizon if they can do it like the last 4 episodes of this season.

I hope they double...no...triple their budget for the next seasons prison-style story arc.
I finnaly understand why they had such a boring season 2 full of no action. Had to save everything for the last episode. 10,000 zombies lol
And that guy dieing in the RV made me burst out laughing, I couldn't remember who he is. "Oh shit throw-away character"

Chick with dark hood and katana with bitches on the side....My love for this show has came back

I am drawing so many parallels between the show and the comic now. I love it!
I'm still very confused by some parts though, like Lori's part. I think she thinks her baby is messed up-ish. Or she's pissed Rick put Carl in danger. Not sure. Also, Carol's trying to turn the group against him. And I rewatched the useless guy in RV dying. Awesomely useless. I like blood though.
Sorry, am writing this live.
OMG Rick has gone crazy.
This episode's awesome.
Also, MICHONNE! And the PRISON! Fall? Dammit.
I'm happy The Walking Dead has met my expectations now the last few episodes. Hopefully Game of Thrones can do the same while I wait!

"Oh shit throw-away character" Yeah that was another reason the finale was pretty meh for me. I couldn't sympathize with the characters that tried to grieve after they were split up because I knew everyone who was worth a damn as far as the main cast goes survived. The people they did lose were wet tissue paper sticking to the bottom of the toilet. Who gives a shit if Jimmy and Patricia died, we hardly knew them. The Maggie and Glenn scene was pretty good; those characters actually have some substance and it was more about the relationship between the two of them than what they had left behind. The Andrea sequences were pretty good, partly because of the sense of desperation, and partly because of how she was saved of course.
The Daryl/Carol scenes ... meh. Rick, Hershel, and Carl ... double meh. T-Dog, Lori, and Beth ... actually this was somewhat decent because T-Dog was all like "you women are completely insane!" or something after Lori said something stupid, I laughed. But on a whole they didn't make me feel any sense of loss, and they didn't bring anything else compelling to the table during those last scenes as the "everyone is infected" thing should have been seen a mile away.
edit: Maybe the infection news was a shock if you have been living under a rock or hadn't put 1 zombie w/no scratches or bites & 1 zombie w/just a stab wound together. I have a feeling that was meant to be the shocker to end the season with a bang, but it didn't resonate with me and I doubt it shocked many people in this thread as everyone has been discussing it for a week.

Well, I just mean the first few episodes. Back when this show was still really good. I dunno. I already explained it all. I just finished the governor arc... or at least the first part of it. So when someone suggested Danny Taejo i was lik YES. I'm dissapointed now, too.

If there was ever a reason to get a divorce Rick, it would be now.

Ah, well the first episode is nearly dead-on how it was portrayed in the comic, probably the only episode that did the source material justice as far as I'm concerned. Its been a while since I watched the 2nd or 3rd episodes of S1 but they started to significantly deviate so its difficult to compare. I'd definitely prefer the comic portrayal of their time at the campsite compared to the show but I dk about others.

All I can say about the finale is, Atleast T-Dog got a healthy amount of lines.

"Oh shit throw-away character" Comic spoiler + Show Spoiler +A lot of the prison arc is pretty uneventful with the exception of just a few key moments and the governor. If people thought the farm was boring and the the dialogue sucked I feel bad cause there's gonna be a lot more of it next season.

So does everyone just hate the show or what? If you don't like it so much stop watching alrdy ffs. All I ever see is bitching about the tiniest things.

I'm surprised at everyone's shock that Lori freaks out about the whole Shane situation. Did you all forget that she's preggers? That fucks up with hormones more than anything else. I mean yeah she's still a stupid bitch but lets also remember her hormones are all sorts of fucked up. So that doesn't help lol.
As for the episode I liked it overall. For everyone annoyed at the supposed "Hershal never reloaded" thing. Does the show HAVE to show you him reloading EVERY time? Can't you just imagine that he is reloading while the scenes cut to the others? I dunno. I guess I don't need to be spoon fed everything and let my imagination fill in what the show declines to tell me in 43 mins of video.
Also Michonne, fucking badass. That is all. :D
