Honestly it's not surprising that Carl would wander around- he's a kid, he doesn't necessarily fully comprehend the danger (which makes him a bit dumb at this point, but well... he's a kid) and he feels the need to establish he can handle himself. The more his mom is like "Don't do x" the more he goes and does x. His stupidity in this episode was pretty appalling though. He was pratically asking to get eaten. | ||

The final cause of his death was Shane shooting him and leaving him for dead. And as I mentioned above, Shane and Rick were 100% okay with him doing it when they could have easily stopped him so they're just as much to blame from that perspective (which is a bad perspective to begin with as it's too far separated from the actual cause of his death). | ||
