Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |
Wow that was actually a really depressing ending. Granted he was retarded for going off alone like that and letting his guard down, it was still pretty sad and there are definitely other people I'd have liked to have died before he did.
Episode as a whole started off pretty slow for the first half, then it picked up in the second half.
Also, I don't even remember the black guys name anymore because he didn't say anything the entire episode. They could have at least given him a line in the little judicial hearing.

+ Show Spoiler +Carl was really annoying this episode. Did not think Dale would die since I was hoping for him to get his leg cut off later.

Ending of today's episode:
FUCK YES!
Was pretty terrible up to the last 5 minutes, but + Show Spoiler +this makes me love Darryl even more

Carl, you done fucked up. And seriously, how does a zombie sneak up on anyone like that during the night silence?

This is the first episode my brother watched and he took to liking Dale. Then... Is it sick if I was laughing the whole last scene?

Seriously... All the zombies we've seen so far have always made a hissing or a zombiesque noise.

Maybe, what exactly did you find funny about it?

How is a zombie able to tear open a person's stomach like that?

After all the debating on the merits of the writing, and the pacing, I have to agree with you on this one. This episode was pure filler, with the 'shock' ending lamely added to give the episode any actual weight at all, and to leave that last impression in the week before the next episode. All the hemming and hawing over the course of the episode ought to have been handled in one, maybe two, commercial breaks. Carl's whole side storyline didn't even have a purpose, forget being mildly interesting at all, outside of introducing us to one fateful zombie.
The only bright side is that the final two episodes look to have action in them of some sort based on the previews. I guess the writers just didn't know how to get there from here, so this episode was the best they could do to bridge the gap. Holy hell, such a waste of an episode.

Great episode after the first three were a tad slow. You guys are zombies in your perception of the show.

OMG they actually gave T-Dog a line this week.

I mean there are some filler episodes that are quite good. Look at the show Supernatural, they've had filler episodes for like the last 3-4 episodes with little to no story progression. I found this episode to be quite good mainly because it showed that the group really is broken, like Daryl first said.
I do agree on the whole Carl scenes. They were kind of pointless and could've been better, could've had another purpose besides that "fateful" zombie.

Shane shooting Dale at the end would have had a larger impact imo, but whatever Carl fucks up again and someone else pays the price.
|
I actually liked this episode. Did anyone else notice the parallels between the zombie and Randall? Not having the guts to shoot the zombie led to Dale's death, I'm guessing that not shooting Randall will do the same.

I guess the writers just didn't know how to get there from here, so this episode was the best they could do to bridge the gap. Holy hell, such a waste of an episode. Agreed. After the 3rd scene with Dale trying to convince someone to spare his life I wanted to volunteer to have myself shot so I didn't have to watch the rest of it. You have an issue or point you want to draw attention to? Have one, maybe two scenes dedicated to it, and if you have more than one at least space it over the course of the entire episode. By the time they had the rehashed "Save him" "I'm hardened now we need to kill him to protect ourselves" discussion between Dale and Hershel I was furious.
That combined with the abysmal Carl sequences made this episode probably my least favorite of the entire season. Cool, you had a random zombie kill at the end, maybe no one really is safe, but ugh the way they got there by literally having 55 minutes of nonsense. This is what you get when you focus an entire episode around nothing but a moral struggle and a child actor.
