Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

Just watched episode 2
+ Show Spoiler +Why did they think they need to stray off so far from the comic :f also the pretend to be zombie is stupid and zombies carrying bricks to break the glass is silly but with that part I can live with. Also why they are making Shane and Lori such an item. It was a lot more suttle in the comics but maybe they though they needed a bigger shock when Rick eventually finds the camp. Whole episode felt like a filler before Rick finds the camp. Glad that episode 3 is getting better again ^^ and not saying episode 2 was bad but kinda disappointed after the strong opening in episode 1. Can't wait for episode 3
I putted that in spoiler tags because I wasn't sure but is it ok to talk about the show freely here or the spoiler tags are a must?

I realize fully now that they will thrown in as much fillers as possible, i just wish the extra npcs died trying to run away

If somebody goes to the last pages in a thread about a specific TV show and gets angry when they see a spoiler they need to get a clue.
I suppose that spoilers pertaining to the possible future events if the show follows the comic should be put int spoilers for sure though.

for missing characters from the novel? + Show Spoiler +Only the main character's son has been shown, I remember that there was at least a girl and twin boys with the group. The parents of these children don't seem to be there either. It would be a shame if all these characters were written off in favor of "disposable" new characters like those we saw in ep2

Still loving his show so far. Not sure how the comic book guys are holding up though.

I was hoping the racist guy would survive because he was a badass but they only made him racist so they could kill him off (or did they?). Everyone seems weak mentally and physically which is kinda irritating. Sure they are real people but being a badass means you survive in these circumstances and all we have is a bunch of effeminate pussies and toothpick women. Where are the surviving soldiers? Firemen? Gang members? Mafia? Etc. Wah I can't shoot my zombie wife wah! I've noticed they advertise as "emotions in a zombie crisis" which scares me in thinknig it will be garbage. Power struggles and fights for resources/control are cool but not "is stealing these earings wrong? I'm glad we talked, we are building a friendship".
If you read the comics you would know that The Walking Dead is more about how humans would survive in a zombie apocalypse more so then about zombies. It is awesome and the situations and choices they have to make are not lame at all. I think that the stealing of the earings and the cops not caring part was just a way to show that the rules of the past no longer apply. There will be much bigger and really fucked up things they have to go through in the future if it stays true to the comics.
I limit my nerddom to sc2. This show seems too much about feelings and relationships so far and hopefully it will get better. I expect more greasy characters who are smart and cunning rather than this campy feeling I'm getting. I'm still gonna watch a few more episodes to give it a chance but if the focus isn't on survival and zombies I'm done.
Also the intro was basically 28days later... who stole that from who?

For those who haven't read the graphic novel, this is only the beginning... The real "meat" of the story is the transformation of the characters over time (especially Rick). The Zombie-Lore issues (using rocks to break window / woman trying to get into her home / girl picking up her stuffed animal) are pretty annoying to me, though.
I would also agree that Shane + Lori isn't the way I would've liked it. In the novel, it seemed like more of a one-time thing than something they carried on... oh well.

As expected the tv compares to the comic like sc2 to C&C4.
The comic, every chapter of it is made of epicness and suprises you so much, even scared me when i started reading it....ofc read it @ night

Watched the second episode last night and really enjoyed it. The asian guy is a bad ass
Also in regards to them leaving the guy on the roof: I think it's going to come back and bite them in the ass. When the black guy tripped he tripped over a tool box, and I think that he will use those tools to get out of the hand cuffs and find a way to escape from the roof. We'll see though. Either way I'm very entertained!

Pretty much this. I don't know what they are thinking anymore.

I don't understand why everyone is so upset about the zombies picking up rocks and the little girl picking up her teddy bear, dead wife trying to return home, etc. I actually like it - it shows that the zombies still retain some level of who they once were, even if it's only some rogue synapse firing out a rote routine.
If you want your zombies to be simple dumb cannon fodder and all the main characters to be police/army/gang members/mafia(Atlanta mafia - what?) badass terminators, there are plenty of other zombie splatterfest movies for you out there. So far this show seems to be a little more intelligent, and I like it that way.
I'll probably pick up the comic.

I'm okay with both spectrums in behavior so long as it remains consistent. I mean, look at the end of second episode when the zombies begin to climb over the high fence to chase them. How is that logical when the cop from the previous episode doesn't even bother to scale the low fence.

Humans are diverse, some people who have the same illness don't necessarily show the same strength in symptoms. I think it makes sense that some of the prior attributes of the zombie like cleverness or agility carry over to the zombie. Plus in Atlanta there were a lot more zombies, meaning they have a higher probability to invent and discover things (like climbing a fence), just like it worked with human societies in history.

I am a big fan of the comics.
I was disappointed that the scene of the first double page panel wasn't included in the TV show (first ep, hospital).
I am pumped for the second ep. Lemme download it now..

Really dissapointed by the second episode, zombies climbing fences WTF? Also for such a high production there were a couple of times when the acting was subpar. Not horrible but "Law and Order SVU" bad. Like when the women said "hes leaving us!!" or when the blond in the camp (forgot the names read the comic a long time ago) after arguing starts running -_-.

lolwut? Cut off his own hand? It would be faster and smarter to cut the threaded rod or break the cuffs.

If I was a writer for this series I would def put Sgt. Doakes from Dexter as one of the characters. That would be so badass. Haven't heard from him after his season with Dexter (or before for that matter) so he would probably accept a role :p

I mean, look at the end of second episode when the zombies begin to climb over the high fence to chase them. How is that logical when the cop from the previous episode doesn't even bother to scale the low fence. I thought one of the points the episode was trying to make was that the zombies learn behavior.
+ Show Spoiler +When Rick and Glenn first escape from the zombies after he runs out of the tank, they climb a ladder to get away, we then see that one particularly smart zombie mimics their behavior and tries to climb the ladder too. That could also easily explain why the zombies started using bricks on the glass - maybe one of them just did it and noticed the glass broke faster, then all the other zombies copied that one. So when the zombies at the truck sequence see both of them scale the fence, some of the smarter ones copy that behavior and go over as well.
Zombie learning isn't just a thing that Walking Dead does, by the way. It was a major point of Land of the Dead, probably Romero's best recent Dead film, where one really smart zombie ("Big Daddy") gains almost human-level intelligence. One of the major themes of any zombie media is that over time, the zombies regain more of their humanity, while the humans become more and more like the zombies.
I didn't think the episode was as bad as everyone's saying it is. I mean, yeah, the zombie guts disguise thing was kind of narm, and they don't really need to make the Lori-Shane relationship into an actual thing, but quite clearly they're not going to make the series exactly like the comics (which is a good thing imo, it makes the show less predictable for people who read all the comics). I thought the only real missed opportunity was the moral issue of abandoning the redneck, I was expecting them to make a lot more out of it than they did. At the end I was expecting the black guy to throw him the hacksaw or something and then run, but I guess not.
Now, if they end up not doing anything significant with all of these extra characters they added, I'll be pretty disappointed, unless they have some spectacular death scenes or something. This part was supposed to be mostly for development of Rick and Glenn, I was a bit surprised when all of these other characters showed up.
