Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

Yeah, I was really disappointed that the black guy from the first episode didn't become a major character. It's refreshing to have a black character that is just a normal guy and not a token urban character.
He was actually a good actor too. Some of the people in episode 2 seemed not great.
Episode 2 was quite a bit worse then episode 1. I realize for a TV show they need to add more content to each episode as the comics move pretty quickly. However, I don't think anything they have added is interesting. Also, zombies using bricks and running annoyed me a lot. I hope they get rid of any character that isn't in the book as well. Bleh.

Word is Episode 3 will be better. According to some IGN reviewer who's seen it.
Plus it has: + Show Spoiler +The guy from Boondock Saints as the white supremacist's pissed-off brother.

Hopefully they will bring him back down the road, there was some foreshadowing of this in episode one.

just saw number 2..
i didnt really like it at all to be honest; im not gonna give spoilers but.. it seemed pointless. all the stuff that happened in #2 felt like it coulda just been easily added at the end of #1

Yeah what's unfortunate about episode 2 is that it was a lot of filler. Having a lot of extra characters will decrease the focus on the main ones. I don't mind the extras if they kill them off quickly though. I feel like they put this episode in just to put more action into the series, which is unnecessary imo.
Fillers and extra shit not in the comics is ok if it does something good for the overall story/character development/themes, but this episode didn't really do it. They even had a chance to develop the moral situation of dealing with an extreme liability in the redneck, but they sort of punted the issue in the way they handled it.
What I think they should have had as filler instead was just Glen and Rick getting supplies and fleeing the city. This would have allowed them to show a part of what the survivors must do to stay alive, incorporated the necessary action/horror elements, and developed the characters of Glen and Rick.

Downloading ep. 2.. Sucks that a lot of you didn't like it, the first ep was very good imo.

Episode 2 spoilers + Show Spoiler +I was kind disappointed with the whole 'pretend to be a zombie' thing. Was anything like that in the comics? It sets up a whole thing where a potential solution to any problem is just "spread zombie guts on yourself" It kinda puts the whole thing in a bad situation where there always needs to be rain or some other contrived thing that prevents zombie guts from working.
I'm also not a huge fan of how quickly Rick went from "wtf is going on?" to hardened badass zombie killer, but I can overlook that I guess.
overall I liked the episode though, I can understand why it might be a little slower as it has a lot of characters to introduce and start building up.

As someone who read the whole novel thus far, I'm not a fan of the plot changes they made for ep #2. Visually, however, this show is everything I hoped it would be.
Is anyone else as frustrated with the plot changes as well?
EDIT: + Show Spoiler +zombie guts spreading doesn't come up again in the novel, iirc

+ Show Spoiler +Yeah, Rick and Glen use is to get into the city one time, I believe.

The first episode was better than the second one.
+ Show Spoiler +Sucks the guy dropped the key, I would've tossed the man the hacksaw (they had it earlier!) but then still locked him up on the roof while he was cutting himself free. I guess I'm a nice guy...but not that nice.

+ Show Spoiler +Actually, Rick and Glenn make it out of the city just by running. They use the guts when they go back into the city to get guns.

Considering that the zombies would get to him if he didn't lock the door on the way down, it was being merciful. I'd rather not die being eaten alive by zombies.

This show is ok but I might stop watching it after giving it a few more episodes if it doesn't get better. The first episode was pretty good although I felt it moved a bit too fast, as in, wake up get out of town in a day or so. The actual scenes were slow and good for it.
The start of episode 2 summarizes the whole episode, unnecessary. Episode 2 just didn't advance plot or have any explanation of anything really besides "wife is angry at husband" tension. The wife is really an irritating idiot along with the other woman and its obvious she is gonna cause problems b/c she doesn't understand survival. If the show becomes a catering to women bullshit relationship stuff I'll just stop watching. House kinda is turning into relationship garbage but House is so awesome he makes up for it. None of the characters are cool enough to warrant putting up with "I thought we were going to discuss things together" weak male character garbage... ugh.
I was hoping the racist guy would survive because he was a badass but they only made him racist so they could kill him off (or did they?). Everyone seems weak mentally and physically which is kinda irritating. Sure they are real people but being a badass means you survive in these circumstances and all we have is a bunch of effeminate pussies and toothpick women. Where are the surviving soldiers? Firemen? Gang members? Mafia? Etc. Wah I can't shoot my zombie wife wah! I've noticed they advertise as "emotions in a zombie crisis" which scares me in thinknig it will be garbage. Power struggles and fights for resources/control are cool but not "is stealing these earings wrong? I'm glad we talked, we are building a friendship".

so far i do like the show even though the most recent episode wasnt overly stellar. any show that uses more make-up based affects vs CGI is already a WAY better show then most , dont ask me why but i just enjoy the show without the sub par budget tv CGI. If i wanted to watch cheese TV with bad CGI id watch reboot, seeing the zombies half eaten and rotting gives the look of the show such a better experience. you kind of cringe when you get that close up of the "Geek"s face all decomposing, flesh hanging off when its right in the cameras face, but when its CGI you can just tell and i find myself going " ya ya bad cgi zombie next scene plz..."
The shows pace seemed to change up alot from the first episode to the second, I realize that they need to set up the story quickly as they only have 6 episodes for the pilots but in the first episode your almost rushed into this circumstance with Rick being introduced, then a flash back, then fast forward to our present timeline. Normally i wouldnt have minded the pace of the first show had the second one kept up with it, but it just never did. + Show Spoiler +We start the episode still inside the tank with our voice over the radio, ok maybe we dont kill our selves ... now the voice helps us get clear of the zombies, shooting and excitement begin(yay!) ok asain kid almost gets head blown off, still ok ... made it inside the department store! safe for now... annnnnnd the pace of the show dies. and we dont get another few moments of excitement till the last few minutes of the episode
Now i have not read the comic or novel (first ive heard of a novel in earlier post) so i am unfamiliar with the plot in those two versions however by reading previous posts and talking with people who are comic nutts and have read atleast the comic have said it seems true to the story so far but its only 2 episodes in and the writers have plenty of time to piss off the fans of the books/comics. I just seem to like this show alot because i read World War Z, and i always kind of thought about what could happen if a zombie appocolypse occurs(i mean come on who hasn't!). Ive caught myself yelling at the TV atleast once each episode because the characters are breaking some of the "cardinal rules" for surviving zombies, which i think is just great! Hope this show does well, surprised a network that will sensor almost anything is actually making a show like this. Either way I'll be watching the pilot episodes just to see what happens and worst case scenario the show peaks an interest in the novel.

If you read the comics you would know that The Walking Dead is more about how humans would survive in a zombie apocalypse more so then about zombies. It is awesome and the situations and choices they have to make are not lame at all. I think that the stealing of the earings and the cops not caring part was just a way to show that the rules of the past no longer apply. There will be much bigger and really fucked up things they have to go through in the future if it stays true to the comics.

I don't see man toss on that poll. I am upset

BoxeR is military, man. He'll grab the nearest rifle he can get his hands on and blast through the zombie horde and create sanctuary where he shall reign over as emperor of the new world. That wonderful distraction aside, don't have television in my home OTL.

If there was an "other" option I would put Bisu. All his fanboys would defend him to their death and in death would declare Bisu the zombie king and follow him into his everlasting glory of awesomeness and beauty.
but ofc I chose mantoss.
