Ready for some wild combination of results from Group D. Should be highly entertaining!
Big contrasts between groups C & D. C has two clear favorites (VG & VP), while D has one marginal favorite (LGD) but any combination of the 4 Teams could make Upper Bracket and it's really not an upset. It all just depends on how a team is playing today. Should be a lot of fun.
Lots of storylines to watch for on the day. First one is that Group D's 4th place finisher gets EG in the Lower Bracket Bo1. That Loser's Match is going to be amazing, and there's not bad team in Group D, either. Probably the first time we'll have a true Upper Bracket match in the lower Bo1, just because of some bad days.
Fight for TI Direct Invites is definitely on. With both Gambit & RNG making Upper Bracket, Ehome's chance of keeping their direct invite is all but over. Depending on how things land today, they would be mathematically eliminated if either Alliance or Forward take #1 in Group C. Ehome will be all but assuredly eliminated if Alliance comes 3rd in the group, as well, Ehome would need Infamous to score two major upsets in a row (along with all of the other non-Top 12 teams to lose, as well).
Under-card story is that TNC is in quite a bit of danger of getting dropped as well. They still control their own fate, but they really need to come out of their group in the top 2. OG would be well served to get out Top 2 in their group as well. Someone out of the top 12 could vault Keen, so points for both TNC & OG do matter.
Already a rough start for OG as they just announced that NoTail will be missing today due to health issues and they will play with their coach Socksha as a stand-in. Given the strength of this group, I think this may be the end of their upper bracket dreams.
2 Enigma picks and 1 ban in the first phase. Apparently someone in scrims was winning with Enigma.

Lol.
But it's only game 1, but they aren't out of this yet. They're still going to have one really hard hitting fight they can win.
(Edit: And they lose a horrible Rosh steal attempt and then gg out. hah)
NiP takes game 1 over LGD with a great draft. 33 ruined Maybe's game 1 hard.
that rosh steal attemp, did they really needed to let boxxi walk in and do a stun?
Rodjer? Pasha? maybe use your stuns? Boxxi doesnt have a bkb you know

not even sure it's a downgrade
Ye OG was looking pretty solid in game 1 here
I really don't like when NiP gives Ace the Troll. The team just doesn't play well around the hero. They can't do the consistently forward game play that the hero needs.
Also, Lone Druid is pretty potent at the moment.

Meta has gotten really early. Looks a lot like MDL last year where it was all about that one team fight around 25 minutes.
Umm... is VP in Virtus Throw mode? Or is Mars a good Meepo counter?

VP is trying hard to be the only series that didn't go to 1-1.

ggwp, getting 2-0 by alliance LMAO
first i thought the last major was the worst version of VP, then came the quali ones that played even worse and almost didnt make it, and now this
the "closer to ti the worse we get" is going strong
still 1 series, but his is uncharacteristically bad by them
Ok time to change bracket predictions lmao
VP trolling and got punished hard.
Wow you rarely see a game where both teams have 1 kill difference but the gold difference is 20k like that
Well, Alliance is at minimum 3rd out of Group C, which edges Ehome closer to being bounced from the Top 12.
is there any difference between 3 and 4?
In LGD vs NiP Game 3, we suddenly have a bristle, weaver and alch against sand king, viper and void. I have no idea how this is going to play out. LGD's timings are too slow?
next level VP to disappoint everyone's expectations this time so everyone forgets about them come TI and they can play without pressure for once. can't get your heroes nerfed if you play them all badly xd
or just slump idk

On June 23 2019 21:02 Faruko wrote: is there any difference between 3 and 4?
The Bracket now dictates a lot of the DPC points outcomes. 3rd in Group C goes up against Infamous in the Bo1. Whoever wins that plays the Loser of Gambit vs 1st in Group C. Ehome can't afford for either Alliance or Gambit to get Top 8. If Alliance goes out 3rd, Infamous would need to make Top 8 and Gambit loses in Upper Bracket for just that scenario to not knock Ehome out.
Ehome needs pretty much everything to "go right" to keep the Direct Invite. TNC also probably needs to not go out 9th/12th as well.

honestly thought nip had game 3, guess es and weaver saves counteract nips sustain
Did OG just throw by trying too hard for that fight?

k maybe ace’s divine can win them the game if lgd throw without bbs

NiP made this into a toss up game by diving behind T3s when they didn't have any towers down. They really needed to kill that T3 early.
NIP WOIN??!?!
wow Ace with the raiper saving NiP in game3
Okay, post 30 minutes, NiP vs LGD G3 was pretty good.
Technically, the team who played better won
That was an amazing third game. That ending tho...Ace delivered really big in the end.

NIP vs LGD, lmao. What a game. :D
Ace wow
NiP got the perfect timing at the end to make it awkward for maybe to buyback. That being said... Maybe probably should have bought back <_>

NiP vs LGD: Always knew dota is retardious. Never imagined such shit would be possible. Cool to witness, but absolutely not fun to have. What's the idea, Void could've bought an extra rapier too, and bam, throne is unsavable - he can literally finish it in one ulti..
Zero risk office(if the team has no range bkb breakers), enormous reward.

LGD had a lot of ways to prevent that from happening. They definitely should have been able to win the game after NiP had 3 players dead with no buyback.
Alch and bristle both had bashers.

ana making aghs morph looking real good in this g3

OG careening towards the dumpster that they know well

Well, 4th from Group D gets to play EG in the Bo1.

Sockshka taking support tax.
we are inching closer and closer to become lol
once you get a decent advantage early game, might as well just gg out
Since the Minor, I like that NiP has been getting more aggressive. A little annoyed about diving behind T3s when you don't need to and prolonging the game, but I like the improvement.

NiP has to stop diving when they're at the T3s. That almost cost them against LGD and it did against TNC g1.
Wtf.. Techies pick vs LGD

VG looking on point.
Techies is auto loss vs Naga TA
OG playing without notail, i'm not sure if that factored into their choice to pick techies
In any case yay LGD
That is probably not the biggest issues but the multiple CC, push and damage combo that LGD utilises in both games, while relying on early timings and spiralling out of control.
PPD with a BKB, you dont see that very often
On June 24 2019 01:27 Tegenaria wrote: PPD with a BKB, you dont see that very often
They've been getting more gold on both supports today. There's been a change in farming patterns to get more gold out of the map, but I don't know the details. Just something I'd noticed happening during the latter part of the Minor.
It feels like TNC only wards this well when they're against ppd, lol.

Mostly talent in long game like that.
Too bad NiP lost, i was starting to believe
It's annoying not seeing Battlefury on Juggernaut.
There's been quite a handful of long games this group stage
I kinda like it
Good teams will punish LGD's tendency to rotate players to kill.
VP looking better this time vs alliance
This is not the VP of earlier today but this is definetely not the Alliance from earlier today, way too passive
VP always was a team that has a horrible first few games of the day, like they need some time to wake up or something.
Quite the game between NiP and LGD.
Fata is playing cat and mause with LGD on his Ember. LGD does not have any gap closer and is being outmanoeuvered so heavily while Ace is pumping out the damage on his Sniper. Really hope to see a third game between both of these Teams.
the fata haters will hate this game
LGD's draft looks a lot better for G3.

NiP gave up with the Bristle at the Minor because they kept losing with it. They're working hard that Bristle is going to lose all 3 matches in the second matchup with LGD. And going 1 for 5 in 6 matches with LGD. NiP can still win this, but the Bristle feels figured out.
NiP core BKB's don't even win the game because of the Tusk, Void, and Axe.
Also, not banning the Chen was really annoying to watch. It clearly makes your game a LOT harder, so just let LGD draft it for the 4th time.
Oh, and what was with the Weaver pick as a hard carry in this meta?
On June 24 2019 05:11 Moobutt wrote: NiP core BKB's don't even win the game because of the Tusk, Void, and Axe.
Meta is mostly about winning a big team fight between 20-30 minutes. A lot of 2 BKB timings are winning right now. LGD with a good counter approach. Though 4 control heroes against a Weaver carry is pretty good.
You know what's cooking! Boom!
At least LGD have showed their hand. CC, push, mobility and team fight. Essentially their recipe as ever, but it does feels like they have learned from their mistakes in the past.
Why didn't LGD put Maybe on Lesh in game 2?
