Ori pretty much destroyed Noone mid on non-meta heroes. Patch team, yeah.
Paparazzi and Ori are very good. Fade & Yang have spent most of the last 18 months falling apart in tournaments. They didn't today, which is part of the reason they just won.
I missed most of VG's games because they were favored to lose those matches (and I wasn't around for them). Having a chance to actually watch them for a bit, they really only have 1 strategy, but a lot of ways of pulling it off. OG won 4 Majors and a TI using that approach. It's "solving" a patch, realistically. But that strategy requires winning lanes enough to take the Mid T1 and having the better carry.
It's really a variation of what Rotk has been doing for years, to the point that we saw almost this exact same thing happen last year with VGJ.Thunder. VG just has better pos 1 & 2.
So, congrats to VG on winning the Major and making sure rotk is back to TI, even if as a coach.

Well done Vici, they derserved the win. Though vs Fnatic 3rd game was kind of "very good luck".

I ended up missing most of VG's games this tournament, but their strategic move of taking the early Mid T1 and their laning approach around doing that is why they're here. They're going to get slaughtered by the next patch, so this is their chance to win a big LAN.

Well, if you're the underdog, you can fly under the radar until the tournament is over. CDEC at TI5 and OG at TI8 come to mind.

As an Asian watcher I can see how it was good. They ran the games in the middle of the day (during work hours) EU time until the final 3 days. The second day live wasn't that fun for anybody that came in the morning for the first games as well.

VP experienced the same thing as what LGD experienced for TI8. End of 4th game and the whole 5th is a disaster for lower bracket winner especially if they won 2-1 at lower bracket final. They kind of exhausted and loss concentration for the game.

Usually the 5th games, they will play until the throne is really down with 0HP. This time they are only down with midlane and top lane, they still have bottom lane to defend. Never know until last second.
