Seeing DC as a NA team is fine, but giving 4 Spots to the NA region is to much.
EU only got 3 spots. Sea got 4 and China 5. So if it would be equal spots it would be ok, but giving more spots to NA than EU is just unfair twords the eu teams. Also CIS has the biggest playerbase and probably zero teams in the major.

And because Elements and Prodota gaming with 200 ping and playing at 23 pm to 8 am did not win this qualifier does not mean EU is weak. Both teams would have not even qualified for EU qual.

Just make 4 spots per region than and keep it like that. So i'ts fair.
But NA always got the same amount if invites even if their teams(apart from EG) always finishied in the bottom half. And now one bad TI by EU teams and suddenly only 1! direct invite.

Counterpoint

Each region actually only gets 2 guaranteed spots through quals.

There were literally ZERO NA teams invited to TI, invite slots are not for regions, they are for performance. Thats all

There are not x amount of china, eu, and NA slots, there are invite slots, and regional qualifier slots

That is all

Couldn't have put it better.
Don't count direct invites while comparing regions. Those are for team performances irrespective of region.

Still, beside NP other teams in NA quals are a joke (yeah, even complexity). Hell, a team with ixmike did 5th in the round robin. Just this says how good these qualifiers are. (And I agree, the EU team that did it in the NA round robin would not have go through open qual in EU - taht's why they went there in the first place).

Hm...good point. I guess you are right.

But what are the rules then? TOP 6 teams (with the same 3+ players) + 2 best performing teams?

TOP 6 teams: Wings, DC, MVP EHome
International lan winner since TI: EG

So this are the sure invites. Leaving 3 "performance" invites

Than Secret should have gotten an invite. They won faceit and looked rly solid in their other games. Also all of their players have had good placing in valve events.

But i seems valve only looks at lans. So teams that played well, but could not attend a lan have zero chance of an invite.

The overall system just seems so flawed. Just invite Top 6 from the last event and let the rest qualify.

Secret got punished for not playing other lans. Well deserved imo. If you want a scene that matters beside Valve's tourny, it's a good thing.

I think this is already explained in detail on Invites thread. To sum it up:
> Valve only considers LAN tournaments (that too after TI) so FACEIT & other online events like Summit/Dotapit Quals are irrelevant. (Many will not agree with this rule but this has been followed by Valve since first Major).
> Only 3 LANs were held after TI. MDL, MPGL & Nanyang (though later 2 were only regional they were LANs nevertheless). > Invites went to winners, then runner ups & then 3rd places teams in that order. OG I think most lucky to get invite for 3rd place finish in MDL (only international LAN) & I bet Mineski & IG were next on the list as 3rd placed teams.

Because the invites and qualifiers were terribly organised.

GOGO AF!

They have stuck around and improved alot since last year. Rooting for them!

Then rooting for VP next, because this VP team look very strong. Always hoping for CIS teams to do well! Easy decision too since Liquid isn't playing that well, so I don't feel they 'deserve' qualifiying.

Pls Lycan next. Anything is better than this.
You can't just pick heroes that players have no practice with and expect to win.

AF was 1 game away from qualifying to both Manila and TI, would be awesome if they finally made it
