A half major winning team wins the major quals. Region is a joke...

DC looks better than most EU teams. I know everyone wants to makes jokes about how bad NA team is, but Shazam was looking very strong as well. I think DC may even look better than teams like Vega and Secret.

I am really curious how DC will do against better competition. And I am happy that W33 and Misery will have a chance to play the Major beside the kick. If would be really nice to get an elimination series against new secret at Manila.

That is sad. I feel bad for Shazam.

oh well 3/4 in predictions.

Yeah, the European qualifier could have been the same way if secret were forced to go through qualifiers because of their roster change.

I think DC could maybe have gotten through the EU qualifiers, they seem like a good team, so it's not about "NA Dota is trash" or whatever.

Well, Sunsfan had a mostly USA team 4 days before roster lock. It's a US-based organization, even if it's a 4 European roster now.

I really don't think that Secret would have dominated the european qualifiers in the same way DC could do it in the AM Qualifier. Empire and Vega showed that they can win against the best on a good day and DiG/AF were very close to this two teams. I don't think any of the teams in this NA Qualifier beside DC could do this.

And that European team gaming the system and qualifying through the Americas qualifier isn't cool.

What are we supposed to do? Region lock pro players? Complexity has three Swedes on their team, Beesa and sLiCKz aren't American either. Moonmeander did the opposite and went to Europe and went through "the hard way" if that's what you're calling it. Or how about ChuaN playing for a Chinese team instead of competing in SEA?

Players who play in different regions because that's where the majority of their teammates happen to be is fine. I don't understand how you can fail to see a difference from that and a team that deliberately abuses the system and joins a region that isn't their natural one because they think it's easier. And that they can fail (e.g. Mouz, as you say) doesn't change the intention, which is the problem.
In terms of solutions, that's hard because some teams might legitimately want to move to a different region (e.g. most NA team Secret, or ye olde LGD.int). I'm not suggesting that Valve can fix this. All I'm saying is that it's a joke. That's it. Not everything in the world that is a joke can be changed.

i'm honestly happy for sunsfan. after dumping so much money into dota he finally gets to see his team win games. ofc this doesn't mean they'll have an amazing major run but still, feel like the guy deserved to see some results.

Yeah, because "abusing the system" was clearly their intention and you have proof to back that up. Misery chatting up his teammates on Skype and going "Hey boys, lets move to North America and wreck some scrubs. EZ qualifier win." W33 replys "Yeah, let's do this, fam."

The weather is fucken nice here though.
Honestly, I understand the concern of Dota2 becoming similar to SC2 or LoL. However, as it is right now the scene is still very diverse and competitive. If it was all about money then the only region that should be worried is SEA.
This is assuming Dota2 teams becomes like other sports (soccer) and big organizations with money just poach the best players. It is better this way, because eventually if that was the case NA will no longer be the "easy" region. I think it already has progressed a lot. We have 3 competitive teams now instead of just 1.

The origin of the player has no meaning , its where the org is from and where the players play from , if they all live in the USA and play for a US org why on earth should they compete for EU qualifier ? its gets tricky ill say if they only have a US org but all are based in euro , but in DC case its kinda ez to see why they should play out of NA.
