.i mean,it's not like there was a TI 5 months ago where Top 5 had 4 chinese teams, right?just because they looked weaker after that doesnt mean dota 2 is comparable to starcraft

I think they're a team capable of beating the best, but also capable of losing to second-tier teams. In any case, I ought to have just said that it's boring now that Chinese teams no longer look to be able to win tournaments with top Western teams in them. I enjoyed the old days when there was equal competition between the regions, when there was a shot that I'd be wrong when I said that West was going to win. It made it exciting. Now, where's the excitement in watching top Western teams crush Chinese teams for the 4th tournament in a row?

I remember in SC2 when it was boring that the Western players never beat the Koreans Whenever one region is above the other regions, it gets boring for international competition. Of course, people who are fans of individual teams don't have that problem, but that gets old after a while because teams keep changing. In Dota 2, all in all, I think we had a nice run of international competition - four years of trading wins between China and the West. In SC 2, it only took about two years before the international competition became too one sided for it to matter. For LoL, I think it took two years as well. Those are/were the big eSports I pay attention to, and Dota has had the best time with it. But I feel it's coming to an end.

Instead of losing Roshan for free, they get a top Rax by pressuring the top lane early so the creep wave is near T3's.

Losing by running supports into the PL at that point I'd consider throwing. There was no way PL was going to keep up on farm with both Liquid cores if that hadn't happened several times in a row. They gifted him Heart Manta and it was over. VP certainly did play well though, not trying to say they didn't.

Like I said, once PL has the ability to get fat, VP should have this game barring some stupid teamfight loss. It's definitely a throw. I get not wanting to be clustered against ice blast and RP, but there was no reason to just be scattered all over the map allowing VP to pick them all off one by one. They never managed to get a solid 5v5 fight. Every engagement in the late game had them down one or two heroes because they stupidly got themselves picked off. Even when they were ahead, they played like they were behind.

Yeah I wouldn't call that a throw, but they did choke. Too much solo hero play from Liquid. It definitely wasn't a throw. VP just outplayed and outmaneuvered them in the mid-late game with their superior late game heroes. There were lots of attempts of Liquid trying to make something happen, but they either didn't predict the correct movements or didn't have enough support to bring down heroes. There weren't any huge mistakes that Liquid caused themselves to lose. VP took every single advantage they could when they were down to come back in the game. If anything, this shows how solid VP's drafting and shotcalling is.

Gyro and Razor were both 16k while PL was 12k at some point. Losing by running supports into the PL at that point I'd consider throwing. There was no way PL was going to keep up on farm with both Liquid cores if that hadn't happened several times in a row. They gifted him Heart Manta and it was over. VP certainly did play well though, not trying to say they didn't. It doesn't matter if both cores maintain a 4k lead over PL. At their current networth, they can't comfortably siege highground with all the spam VP has. If they have a bigger networth, they still can't comfortably siege highground with a farmed PL + the spams. Liquid has zero chance of forcing highground with VP heroes defending. They can only do so with a teamfight, which VP can choose not to engage. The networth doesn't matter once PL reached the stage when he can comfortably keep up with Liquid's cores. To me it is a throw when Liquid has the game firmly in their grasp. My opinion is that at no stage of the game was Liquid in full control. As I pointed out earlier, from minute 8-14 Liquid screwed up bad. At that point I already called the VP win. What happened wasn't a throw, but a full tilt.

Getting everything else wrong and still pretending you're smart is hilarious. You hedged your bets across like 6 teams and got 1 right. Also, many (most) people still thought EG would take the finals, especially when you separate out the people making predictions with the ones who are just cheering their favourite teams. Betting odds were in favour of EG, and the fact that they won was not shocking to anyone.

He merely is a hero that doesn't die to Brood, can farm against the hero, and doesn't allow Brood to dominate the lane. Essentially you're guaranteed a decent Blink initiator. Brood though still should get the usual farm really easily.

Saying "one of the two teams that make every finals will win TI5" is an obvious guess, and getting that right does not make you smart. Ah yes, ignore the big calls, and focus only on such trivial errors as who the 3rd place team is going to be. I'll be fair - by the time of the international, it was easy already to see that the West was going to win, and the only people who thought otherwise operated on the mistaken belief that the Chinese were just sand bagging the whole way. But the "smart" call was the one I made earlier in the year, after DAC, where I said that there is no way the Chinese had a team that matches up to PPD's and Puppey's in raw talent. And the "smarter" call, in case you will, is the one I made AFTER the international, where I said that all jokes about 8 0 0 0 MMR aside, it's the Western new talent that's going to pull the West ahead this season. But yes, keep talking about how I made a mistake about the Russians and Koreans. Also forgetting your big call of no Chinese in the Top 4. I said there *could* be no Chinese in the top 4, not that there's going to be. Notice that majority of your calls have some form of hedging? Ever think the majority of what I say aren't calls?

I just don't see the benefit of trying to manage the other 3 heroes while an SF/Meepo are hitting your throne.

This is why a team like og doesn't sustain their dominance. They rely on the same drafting approach all the time. They appear to have a wide hero pool, but they are actually fairly predictable. I think og need to switch things up. Also don't pick LD for notail. I have seen too many pub games of his. He buys too many small items that delays his big item. Basilus oov quelling tranquil phase stout. 3.5k net worth of nothing.

Well, all you have to do is to remove 2 of the heroes, and make the game unplayable for the third. That's what VP did. This is why a team like og doesn't sustain their dominance. The score in both also seemed to corroborate that. Were there any bright moments for them? i think there was a fight in game 2 at the radiant tier 1 where VP got wiped? aside from that i can't think of any moment in that series where OG looked Obviously Good at all

Good for them making this far. Does anyone feel like the Chinese teams don't deal with drafting meta shift during tournaments well? Their execution and mechanics are top notch but they seem to fall off after a hot start these days.
