I mean we only have had regional teams playing against each other in isolations since TI5 so I guess we'll see at ESL NY sure but we can make some somewhat objective calls on the quality of play we've seen and it hasn't been pretty when compared to pre-TI5
we'll see soon though. I'm pretty excited

I gotta agree with Lost on this one, they did not. rtz touched on this when he was talking about the kky drama, a lot of old Dota 1 vets are too stuck in their ways and make no attempts to adapt. Puppey is an exception, I would assume Fear is too

My feeling is that noone actually has a clue about what is actually high level play when you just watch a game once. It's certainly easy to see when someone uses their spells well or poorly in a skirmish, but those make a pretty small portion of the game duration.

I mean, in 2015 people still tunnel vision stuff like mad. And goddamn, that backfires often.

It's not that so much as their general map movements/decision making I find weird. I almost never see a team like EG make a dive and lose 4 of their heroes for nothing, but the teams we've been watching for the past month do it regularly

That was sort of what I was talking about, imo when you watch a game live it's pretty hard to look at the game and truly understand how good or bad some movements or lack of those movements are. Certainly I agree that if a team terribly overextends in some situation or plays teamfights poorly or whatever, you can often spot those. But firstly again those sorts of things make a relatively small portion of game time, and also it's simply the nature of sports where there are high pace situations that you end up making errors in judgement. Obviously the best teams make less big errors, but still.
And by this I don't mean that I'm expecting these EU teams to somehow be very successful in international competition, after all most of these teams/players playing were not that successful before TI either. But I also don't see a cause to talk about EU dota somehow supposedly being much worse than it was pre TI.

So what exactly are they waiting for?

Wtf are Vega's bans. Banning brood when furion is already picked by [A], banning spectre when she could be perfect pick for themselves especially since obvious aggro tri by [A] is obviously obvious so spectre would not be the pick for them.
