Game was just going to be super hard at that point, regardless.

Here's my (probably shitty) analysis that you shouldn't take too seriously: The Chinese have lost their efficiency, at least relative to EG/Secret and a few other teams. They probably lane better and teamfight better than them, but for some reason all the games I saw yesterday had the Chinese team never really leading by more than 5-6k however far ahead they were in kills when playing a non-Chinese team.

Of course, small sample size and all that, but still.

The EG games were pretty close tbh. But Secret is demolishing all teams just the same.

Actually, quite a few surprises here and there like Rave and Ehome. But that just comes with every BO1 groupstage.

EG played the hardest first day by far; Secret played a bunch of tier2 teams and then stomped c9

tbh the teams Secret has been beating have been mostly better than the team's EG has been beating, based on current W/L records Secret's beaten two 2-2 teams, a 1-2 team, and an 0-3 team (soon to be 0-4). EG beat a pair of 1-3 teams, a 1-4 team, and a 3-1 team. Only the VG win for EG really stands out to me.

Well, sure, if you only look at Day 1 scores...

No denying that EG beat the teams people expected to do well, and Secret beat teams that were expected to be average/bad (except C9).

Results so far basically show that Chinese teams were being highly overrated, though.

wait for playoffs .. i expect LGD/newbee/VG to smash everybody

Guarantee that won't happen. At best VG and LGD upsets.

Not much hope for Newbee tbh. Unless they suddenly achieved enlightenment and went super Saiyan.

I expect LGD and VG to place top 4 though. Inside info is that LGD has been wrecking everyone in scrims since 3 weeks back. If they find their mojo and not spiral downward like yesterday, it should be fine.

VG seems pretty stable. Since their loss against EG yesterday, their games so far have been one sided stomps with no mercy. But I have a feeling they wont place first this tournament somehow.

Overall everyone on sgamer and gamefy has the consensus that Secret is gonna take DAC if no one figures them out. Which I think is the case, but I won't be surprised if they get upset by EG, VG, LGD or even EHOME.

Yea, Secret and EG look top 2 but EG looks a bit weaker despite having a great day 1.

What does gamefy and sgamer say about Chinese teams?

This EHOME reminds me of the EHOME of 2010. Teams just could not push high ground against them. First C9 now HR... They have the talent and raw skill like DK of 2014. However, the one big major difference is, this EHOME has the ability to defend the high ground when their behind 10k gold while DK of 2014 would just crumble when their behind and even when their miles ahead.

The inflame WK has been employed against greedy jungle strats as of late. Whenever a team picks doom or a greedy jungler, EHOME picks up the 4 support WK into carry. Interestingly, Lycan + WK is one of their go to combo's when they pick up the lycan. Lycan is able to jungle at 5mins and give the farm and levels to WK + AA.

Valve got lazy and didn't add them.

There's some visual assets for them, but for whatever reason, it just wasn't high priority to put them in the game.

Don't you feel that the Chinese solo laners just aren't delivering lately? They look worse and worse vs. international players.

I'm really surprised that eHome is clawing this back. I want them to win but Hellraiser established such a firm lead this shouldn't be happening.

IDK why LD was doubting dusa so much and he was talking about mega lategame like it was still a ways off at 60 mins. 1 Rax down is nothing for dusa/SK at this point.

while I'd like to agree with you, this game was about HR's inability to high ground

Everyone there is pretty supportive of Secret tbh. Its quite surprising.

They also love Sumail. They expect EG, Secret, VG, LGD and EHOME to dish it out for the top 3 places.

General opinion is that IG is a dead team and Newbee has a sliver of hope if they get their shit together before the playoffs.

I mean, this is sort of the culmination of the general apathy of the collective DotA 2 scene in China since TI4. I feel like China expects to just turn it on after the Lunar New Year, but I don't really know if that's actually enough time to make back the lost ground this year.

There are some great players who are really working hard scattered on several teams, but most of them are just struggling super hard while the rest of their team dicks around. Hopefully the reshuffle puts enough of these players together that we actually get a real team that can compete by TI5, and not just sponsors trying to buy "star" players that aren't trying hard.

They are a big deal somewhat, like the evasion creeps. I don't see the reason why they will be omitted forever though.
