Not really. American's having doing this for decades now at sporting events. The Sc2 community just started using it as a parody, tongue in cheek after the Gomtv world vs Korea team matchs, after artosis referred the world team as "team america" despite having zero US players on it. Hence why players like Stephano and Naniwa get a lot of "USA, USA, USA" or "America, Fuck yeah" chants these days. | ||

They're not cheering for a French SC2 player, they're cheering for an American team.
