Keep in mind WCG made Tobi cast a lot of WarCraft III matches and even SC2, while many Dota matches were cast by people who've never played Dota, in Chinese client, where their only clue is if they occasionally hear the English names of the heroes as they appear in the picking phase. Given the situation, they are doing great. Is it wrong of me to be upset that a good dota 2 match gets shown by two clowns who can't appreciate the game and instead make fun of it and compare it to LoL? I get it some people think it's funny. It was funny on the first day, now it is just sad and disrespectful. We should make you cast a game you've never played in Chinese client and see how you do. i wouldn't apply for a job I can't do. Or if I had to do it I would actually watch a tutorial video or read a basic guide not to make a complete ass out of myself. Yes I get that they had limited time to prepare but that doesn't excuse what they are currently doing now. That's where you are getting it wrong - Doa is SC2 caster, the other guy was for one of the other games (the FPS I believe). They went there to cast those games in which they are professionals. But the organizers told all English casters of all types of games that they will actually have to rotate a lot and cast other games too. It happened right there and was not planned. Blame the organizers for making clowns out of these people, but they aren't really clowns themselves and are doing their best.
In my opinion, its actually not so bad that they have these casters completely new to the game. If you look at it from a newviewer's perspective, it gives them a chance to learn the game along with them.
I think DOA is doing a very good job. Many Dota players have been playing the game for 5+ years and still manage to learn new stuff everyday. These guys have to squeeze in a plethora of information in a matter of days AND live cast it. And if you know anything about live casting anything, ITS NOT EASY.
They've been set up for failure, and imo, they've been doing a hell of a job so far. Its very amusing commentary, if anything. Calling Hand of Midas the "Golden glove that summons gold", Cmon man, you have to admit, that fucking priceless.

Plus Doa had to cast WC3, FIFA, and a bunch of other random WCG games too. It's not their fault that WCG didn't get more Dota casters. Some time before this week, WCG scheduled the events. Some time before this week, a bunch of english casters got on a plane and went to china. Some time before this week someone should have realized, wait a minute theres only one dota caster coming to cast an event that has 2 dota games. At some point before breakfast on the first morning someone at wcg should have realized they didnt have enough dota casters. At some point before the first games these two casted, someone should have handed them a list of what the names of the heroes are in dota. But none of that happened. I can't believe what you're saying. First you suggest they stay silent for the greater good (lol) on an english stream they are told and paid to cast. Now it seems like you're saying it's somehow the casters' job to last minute spot check who WCG hires, how they organize their event, and their scheduling. Lets say someone hires a plumber to fix a TV, do you think that plumber should go ahead and take apart the TV and be all like, well I got hired for this job, might as well go ahead and do it. Or maybe, it would be in the plumber's best intrest to ask his electrician buddy to give him some tips. I'm saying that if you realize you have to do a job that you dont know how to do, either dont do it or ask for some help. These two didn't ask for help cos they dont know anything about the game. I suggested on the first day that they could ask any of the pro-players from mouz to cocast with them. What is stopping them? Yes they are in a difficult situation but they made the absolute worst out of it.
On a other note: Looks like CIS dota is very strong . Team from belarus stomping Orange.. Not bad, I hope they play in more tournaments.

Orange is playing very bad though.
They can't play this roaming gank thing, they were much better off with their creep stacking strat. Really missing iceiceice I see.

I just wish the hour before they casted they went to dota2 wiki and printed out the front page, then they just look at the pictures and they would have the name of the hero right. Everything else can be completely noob but at least they would have the basic names correct. And if they actually clicked on the names they would know the names of abilities too.

Big plays from orange. Hoping for a game 3.

Devil Mice should join more tournaments They are impressive so far.

Giving some "tips" the day before isn't going to help them understand the game if they don't know it. You're insulting the game if you really believe they can get their casting to an acceptable level with some "tips" especially in a game like dota where knowing hero skills as well as items is the bare minimum.
They are there to cast starcraft/CS, not spend an entire day learning what items/heroes do and dota strategy on picks/bans. Using your analogy, how is a plumber supposed to learn how to diagnose and fix a TV in a day from an electrician that is so busy that he has to let a plumber do part of his job?

That team fight shows the difference between a team like Orange and iG. iG would've timed those stuns perfectly on that 5 man vacuum.

Wow. Orange played terrible. No execution in the teamfights aside from one.

Kyxy playing an awful Dark Seer. Wall then Vaccuum? Rookie mistake. But well played Devil Mice!

Orange normally does stuff like that much cleaner. Wonder what was up with them.

Caster and streams weren't the best but Semi and finals were some good dota. I hope WCG can improve til next year.
Really disappointed at the ending from the casters though. Knowing dota or not they didn't have to sound totally bored.. Pathetic.
