Has more to do with the fact that E-sports hinges on having viewers, and Kotl/Pl/Batrider comps are completely boring to watch and simply boring. Any competitive game (be it a traditional sport or dota) is made richer by having a variety of possible playstyles, and that possibility makes the game much more fun to play. The same complaints can be seen in pretty much every single sport. Barcelona has been a dominant team for years in football, and they play with a very consistent playstyle. Some people see it as the most beautiful football there is, and some fans think it is incredibly boring. Concerning the KOTL PL, many think it is boring. Yet as people have noted, the combo doesn't actually have an overwhelmingly high winrate, but it seems to me that Alliance can consistently win with it. There certainly is something to appreciate in how Alliance plays their composition, and not just dismiss it as "yet another KOTL PL game". I also find it a bit stupid to say that Alliance plays nothing but splitpush. It is not that uncommon for them to play Naix on Loda with a Puck or a Storm on S4. Also when Bulldog gets his LD, they don't imo really play splitpush at all, but a very aggressive early game elsewhere followed by a big push after Bulldog gets his items. Not to even mention their occasional PA or Ursa picks.

Not like the game was big at that point, but DotA was beginning to lose tons of viewers. The way Alliance play is absurdly boring. They pick nothing but split push/disengage heroes and it's boring as fuck to watch. Extremely effective, and very strong. No doubt at all. But to think that it's 'fun' to watch is hilarious. The fact that you had a crowd cheering for a 4 protect 1 AM strat should tell the story. The people who know about KOTL + PL (Dota players) might not enjoy the game, but they're going to keep watching Dota. One boring game isn't going to make them stop watching Dota forever. And people who are new to dota won't really care. It wasn't as bad as the 100 minute game from last night. Also, they're playing for a LOT of money. They're going to pick whatever they think gives them the best chance of winning, just like every other team. It's the style they're comfortable with, so they're going to stick with it. ps. I'm not an Alliance fan and I think that game was boring; but I'm not going to quit watching dota because of it.

The last game was more exciting than 50% of the games that were played in the tournament. Was it the most exciting? No. But above average compared to one-sided stomps.
