But even without farm, he was still a monster with invoker. Shows how great of a playmaker he is. People who claims s4 "had the farm but had to buy back" are missing my point. My point was not that s4 played bad or that the loss had anything to do with him really, just that he (or more like Alliance in general) need to learn to farm up three cores, just not two, like most of the best teams at the moment are doing. They were among the first teams to start using dual cores, as well as the occasional three cores back when they were dominating the scene. In the past few months I've rarely seen s4 transition into a third core player even when he has typical "third core" heroes such as Viper, DK or Centaur. It might have to do with them usually finishing games quickly if they are ahead, but in the games they are behind and actually have drafted a lineup with three potential core heroes I rarely see him keep farming mid to late which means that they usually don't stand as big of a chance against the popularity of three or dual cores that Empire/EG/C9 usually plays these days. There is nothing wrong with always running around looking for "plays" but at the moment I think this is one of Alliance's weaknesses as it definitely seems to weaken them against the strongest teams they nowadays seems to lose to way more often than before. It was not criticism of s4's play in just this game in particular, he actually had to make the plays since they were so far behind and did actually play one of the biggest role in their (failed) comeback, but I am talking about their games in general. But it's a question of play styles, and while s4 excels with playmaking heroes such as puck and batrider, I feel like he needs to improve on is play when playing these potential "core heroes", and not just rely on snowballing from the midgame to be strong in the late game. And yes, I get the point that it's hard to find farm with Loda and Bulldong taking almost all the farm of the map in most of their game, but if Alliance want to get back on track I think s4 needs to take some more of that farm (or be given the opportunity to). But hey, Bulldog started drafting very recently so maybe with some practice they can hopefully figure out their game in the coming month in time for StarLadder, DH Bucharest, ESL One and DreamLeague. The DreamHack Bucharest LAN in two weeks with Alliance, Na'Vi, Fnatic and Cloud 9 will be extremely interesting to watch for sure! | ||
