Long answer is that Bat still gives a lot to a team, and with big ganks creating big swings he can still be very useful. Even if he can't lane well and can't farm as fast, his ultimate plus a blink and a force can change games entirely. It's an extreme amount of lockdown, even if you have to be sub melee range to use it.

Vision generated by firefly, scouting with napalm and nuke are just amazing around rosh (and a lot of lategame comes down to fighting around rosh), he is strong against bkbs, very mobile (heroes that synergize with BoT are very valuable lategame imo), his itemization is somewhat flexible after dagger, force and bkb so he is a decent hex carrier with potential for hex+refresher,.... just to name a few. Additionally it is very hard to shut a bat down so badly that it won't have any impact on the game anymore, esp if you dont happen to have some amazing counter hero like Venge, SD, LC or something like that. | ||

just because a particular play doesn't work out in a given scenario doesn't mean it was the wrong choice..it simply didn't work out this time around. with so many hero combinations, its hard to say that the batrider is a bad pick unless you look at a much larger sample size. | ||
