It's also worth noting that Lion is pretty damn slow (290 ms). If Lion had 325 ms like skywrath he'd be a very effective roamer imo.

On the topic of dual roaming supports, who would be a good partner for a roaming Sven (who will be a safety net carry come end game)? Any support whos good at roaming themselves really. Apart from heroes that need setup (Lesh, Lina, Mirana) you can generally just bunch two good roaming supports together for even better result. So just look for strong roamers like Ogre/Sky/Veno/CM/etc. But if you're duo roaming probably anything with a good stun or slow can work (sven can setup for others to hit their spells), which adds at least 10 or 15 more to that list.

IO. Saw it in a progame. If you get early kills you win, else you loose. io grants speed+manaregen and hp regen, granting sven enough to continously engage with a stun. It was in a draft that i believe tiny was mid.

A second support that can carry Arcanes does make Sven's life easier given his tight early-midgame mana management--moreso than one that can't.

Io works with Sven but they are a poor early game dual-roam because of Io's need for levels. They're better off in lane if you're running them together, rather than roaming.

They did it for mana/hpregen mostly with bottle at really early levels and it worked, because they snowballed and won the game from all those ganks and rotations. Its double regen for the sven. Didnt say i liked it as a roaming supportduo, although fun to watch. If i recall correctly, the tiny mid was a nice combo with io later in the game.

It could work against high mobility heroes that can be bursted down even with such a low damage output of low lvl lion. Its just that do u want to autoattack like 1-1,5 sec more (hex 2,5s lvl1) or hit the target with 100dmg nuke and still stun it for like 1,5s (Thats pretty much the average supports are having). Like said lina needs a setup and even lions hex needs a setup (smoke, invis etc.) against heroes like qop weaver am...
Things like highground and so on in midlane make it even harder to count on making damage with autoattacks because the miss chance.
Another thing that lina+lion misses is big teamfight ulties that are pretty common to have, atleast for 1 of the supports. Heroes like ES SK ET WD AA can do a lot more in teamfights later on. Because all the cores would buy BKB's against lina+lion, their efficiency would be pretty awful. Both lina and lion really need their aghs to get more out of their teamfight and it takes forever for those roles because warding and hard mid game.

could we just move that edit and quote button somewhere -.-'

In my opinion as a combo they fall off without farm+xp after bkb. They have similar skillsets which makes your draft less versatile too handle with the opponents draft and they dont enhance the plays of most corehero's. Besides all that it feels like a one way strategy, if you dont snowball and kill alot of heros early with this supportcombo, you probably loose.

played a game as Luna against a Medusa. Even though I had considerably more farm, I couldn't kill her, nevermind fighting her. Should I have gone for an earlier push build? gone extreme damage instead of butterfly/manta/satanic?
does hex disable her mana shield?

does hex disable her mana shield? hex doesnt disable mana shield, luna imo is a really really weak hero (worst carry imo). and she rly cant do anything vs medusa... shudve prolly tried to take raxes before dusa got big by 5 manning. if u go extreme dmg u die in 1 stun

If you need a damage item for killing Medusa, and don't care about anyone else (possibly because you can already kill them easily), Diffusal Blade's mana burn is the best thing this side of Divine Rapier.

People should not overestimate the impact of lategame manashield even with skadi/bloodstone. If you are carry and similar slotted as a medusa on the enemy team, your team will drain mana so fast that the shield still has some impact but not what it was during the early/midgame. All the damage manashield sucks in is without armour or magic resistance which is applied to the damage after it went passed the manashield. So its not that big if a deal when your carry is hitting for 300 damage per rightclick or more and the team helps drain her.

Luna's problem against Dusa isn't really Mana Shield, but that as a short-ranged carry that tends to have to commit fully to a fight due to how her play is centered around her ult, she gets fucked by the counter-engaging powerof Stone Gaze.

qq-age, throws and blame game aside (storm used the orchid/stun on Lion instead of the divine rapier Medusa in the end...), I really thought I could take Medusa in a fight. I've always felt like Luna was a shit carry and now I've got a blue-poster stating that in his opinion Luna is dogshit.
I went Treads, Helm of Dom (for stacking...only to have the battlefury BH take my stack and nearly die doing it. OK), Ogre Club, Yasha, BKB, (at this point I fought against a Linkens Yasha Phase Medusa...and lost), Butterfly (because I thought it'd help me manfight Medusa...it didn't), the crit was a last ditch effort.

well, now I know I guess. Yeah, Dusa pressing R pretty much made me a sad Luna.

Your build is too slow and farmy for a typical Luna vs. Dusa game. HotD+Yasha means both of you are farming to 25-30 minutes, which is obviously bad for Luna. You need to leverage a BKB timing closer to 15 minutes (when Dusa doesn't have a complete major item yet) that can take towers with in order to develop a farming advantage with map control.
As Beesa said you basically have to 5-man steamroll raxes before Dusa gets big, which can't happen if you buy 4k worth of farming items before completing BKB.
|
Yasha is fairly solid, but you really don't need the helm. I have a 60% winrate just going Aquila treads wand drums bkb yasha and pushing like a madman whenever ult is up. You pretty much just farm up the first 4 and start forcing fights. Early luna with 3 auras and her ult is very very scary, but she falls off very quick. You pretty much HAVE to kill a bunch of towers and leverage map control or any other carry will out scale you

Why is bat 8:th most popular pick in competitive games this patch? He has the lowest win rate of all heroes with 100 games played or more at datdota.
I get that he was good previously but don't see the point in this patch.
